The Centre for Sports Studies in the Division of Health Design and
Science is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor of Sports
Studies to provide leadership in teaching, research and
administration in its core programs of Coaching Science, Sports
Management, and Sports Media. The successful applicant may specialise
in one of these teaching areas or be fluent in more than one of them,
and may be expected to carry out duties of Head of Discipline.
The appointee will be expected to make significant contributions to
all activities of the school and/or division or interdisciplinary
area and play a significant role within their profession or
discipline. Academics at this level may be appointed in recognition
of distinction in their disciplinary area.
This is a full-time continuing position.

LECTURER/ASSOCIATE LECTURER - SPORTS STUDIES

The Centre for Sports Studies in the Division of Health Design and
Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Level B) or an Associate
Lecturer (Level A) to contribute to its teaching programs in Coaching
Science, Sports Management and Sports Media.
The appointee at Level A will be expected to make contributions to
the teaching effort of the University, particularly at undergraduate
and graduate diploma level, in the above discipline areas, and to
carry out activities to develop scholarly, research and/or
professional expertise relevant to the profession or discipline.
Preference will be given to applicants who can teach in Coaching
Pedagogy or Sports Biomechanics.
The appointee at Level B will be expected to make significant
contributions to the teaching effort of the school, division or other
organisational unit. The appointee at this level is also expected to
play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional
activities. Again, preference will be given to applicants who can
teach in Coaching Pedagogy or Sports Biomechanics.
The Centre for Sports Studies at the University of Canberra was
established in 1981, concurrently with the Australian Institute of
Sport, for the purpose of providing advanced education in the areas
of Coaching Science, Sports Management, and Sports Media. The Centre
is ideally located in Canberra, nearby the Australian Sports
Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport, and within range of
numerous national sporting bodies. The Belconnen region, within which
the University of Canberra is located, is now the subject of a major
feasibility study with respect to the further development of the
Bruce/Lyneham areas as the ACT 'sports precinct'.
This is a full-time continuing position.
