Position: Sport Science Intern
Duration: 12-24 months
Start date: 18 March 2003
Interview dates: 10-14 March 2003

Eligibility: EU citizens or self-obtained Irish work permit holders (by starting date).
Salary: Approximately 1100 Euros per month
 
This post would be suitable for graduates or work placement seekers in the following fields:
-Exercise physiology
-Sport Science
-Medicine or related
-Other sport science related qualifications may be considered.
 
Experience: No formal experience is necessary.  However, a strong desire to work in applied sport science and specifically with Olympic athletes is required.  The applicant should be able to demonstrate that they have experience in sport, either as a participant, coach, or both.
 
Applicants should be able to apply themselves in the following areas:
-Use of online literature databases (e.g. Medline).
-Physiological testing of athletes.
 
Information:
The post will involve the physiological testing of elite Irish athletes.  The postholder will also be involved in the athlete education programme of the NCTC, along with various research and development projects.  The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain experience in the delivery of applied sport science to international level athletes.  The postholder will have the opportunity to be supervised and guided by experienced applied sport scientists within a forward looking environment.  Training will be provided where necessary.  Informal enquiries can be sent to the email address shown below.
