6th mile distance at Tiger Dash   Message List

Re: [spacecoastrunners] 6th mile distance at Tiger Dash

It has been many years since I certified a course, but part of the of
the certification process includes a margin of error. A certified 10k
course will be at least 6.2 miles. The reason being if Barry Jones was
to set a world record on the course, a verification team would visit the
course and re-measure it. If it came up short, then I would be stripped
of my record and that would be very embarrassing for me and the race
director. Therefore every certified course has a small percentage of
additional distance.
Barry

What Barry says is true. In measuring a course and having it certified it must be at least the advertised distance. 10,00 meters is 6.214 miles. To insure that...
