Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig will chat online from the All-Star Fan Fest on Tuesday, July 9, 2002. Any fans wishing to have a question submitted to Selig must visit the MLB website by 12:00 p.m. ET TODAY, Monday, July 8, 2002! May we suggest that you spend a moment and bombard Commissioner Selig with questions about labor negotiations and his thoughts on a Fan Strike?
PLAYERS TO VOTE ON STRIKE DATE TODAY
The MLBPA Executive Board meets in Chicago today to decide the fate of the season. While the media says that a strike date will be set, many players have said that they feel no date will be set. We'll have to wait and see who's right (or who's telling the truth). It is possible that the players could vote to strike but not set a date, putting all of your baseball vacation plans on hold.
MLB FAN STRIKE PRESS CONFERENCE IN MILWAUKEE TODAY
MLB Fan Strike will be teaming up with Baseball Fans Unite International and We The Fans for a press conference at the Embassy Suites West Attache Ballroom in Brookfield, WI today at 2:00 p.m. The groups are announcing a cooperative new plan where all three fan groups will support one another. They will unveil a more detailed strategy that involves a second fan boycott date on AUGUST 1, 2002.
ROSS RECK BACKS MLB FAN STRIKE
Ross Reck, who was calling for a July 4th fan boycott of all MLB games, has put his support behind MLB Fan Strike. Visit Reck's website to find out how his July 4th boycott went.

Sportsmanship -- If you have ever coached a youth team or have young
children at home waiting to be molded, it can be gratifying to sit back
and think of not only the technical skills we can pass on, but perhaps more
importantly, the sportsmanship and strong moral base that we can provide
our kids. The attached picture says it all, a young man who has obviously
been given a deep love of the game, a love that should last a lifetime...
Osama bin Laden, not feeling well and concerned about his mortality, goes to consult a psychic about the date of his death. Closing her eyes and silently reaching into the realm of the future she finds the answer.
"You will die on an American holiday."
"Which one?" Osama bin Laden asks nervously.
"It doesn't matter," replied the psychic. "Whenever you die, it will be an American holiday!"
Dear All,
"MINNESOTA REMEMBERS: A MEMORIAL FROM THE
HEARTLAND"
(St. Paul, MN) - Governor Jesse Ventura today
announced that a memorial service, "Minnesota
Remembers: A Memorial from the Heartland," will
be held on the Capitol grounds Sunday, September
16, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. The event will last
approximately one hour and is free and open to
the public.
The governor appeared at a news conference this
morning with First Lady Terry Ventura, St. Paul
Mayor Norm Coleman, Minneapolis Mayor Sharon
Sayles Belton, Minnesota Wild CEO Jac Sperling,
Minnesota Council of Churches Executive Director
Peg Chemberlin, General Mills Foundation
President Dr. Reatha Clark King, Ridgeway
International President Paul Ridgeway, and the
Minnesota Remembers Executive Committee.
"Like most Americans, The First Lady and I were
shocked, saddened and upset at Tuesday's
attacks," Governor Ventura said. "This event
will bring Minnesotans together."
"While talking to Governor Ventura the other
day, we agreed that Minnesotans needed a forum
to meet, discuss and share their feelings of
what had happened," said St. Paul Mayor Norm
Coleman. "Like the rest of the country, this
hits you at the core--Minnesota's capitol city is
honored to host this event."
"Minneapolis and our entire state and nation
have been affected tremendously. The IDS was
closed, federal buildings were closed and travel
at the airport ceased," Minneapolis Mayor Sharon
Sayles Belton said. "We must all join the
governor and come together at this historic
memorial."
Dr. Reatha Clark King will emcee the event.
Those attending include Governor Ventura,
Senator Wellstone (expected), mayors Coleman,
Sayles Belton and Robert Demuth of Worthington,
county commissioners, Minnesota legislative
leaders, various religious leaders, the music
group Sounds of Blackness, the U of M Marching
Band, the Minnesota National Guard, Police-Fire-
EMS representatives and Minnesotans directly
affected by the attacks.
Ridgeway International will coordinate the
program voluntarily. "The events of the last
week have touched me personally, and I just feel
this is the right thing to do," said company
president Paul Ridgeway. "With the help of the
Governor's Office, Mayor Coleman's office, the
Minnesota Wild, Ramsey County, and sponsors that
are getting involved, this event already has a
different feel and meaning to it than anything
I've ever worked on."
The Minnesota Wild hockey team volunteered to
lead fundraising efforts to help cover the costs
of the event. "Like most Americans, you want to
do whatever you can. The Wild, RiverCentre,
Xcel Energy Center and its employees are no
different," Wild CEO Jac Sperling said.
The Minnesota Remembers Executive Committee
consists of John Wodele, David Ruth and
Christine Nelson of the governor's office;
Leslie Kupchella and Sarah Todd of Mayor
Coleman's office; Todd Leiweke and Bill
Robertson of the Minnesota Wild; Erich Mische of
RiverCentre; Anne Freeman of Mayor Sayles
Belton's office; Dave Verhasselt and Terry
Speiker of Ramsey County; Kevin Foley; and Paul
Ridgeway of Ridgeway International.
The event is rain or shine. The Salvation Army
will be providing coffee and soda free of
charge. The Red Cross will have a booth to
collect cash donations.

Yahoo! has completed its acquisition of eGroups, and we're happy to officially welcome you to the Yahoo! family. You can learn more about the completion of the deal by reading our press release (http://www.egroups.com/local/pr/pr083100.html). There is a great deal of work ahead as we work to bring eGroups into the Yahoo! network of services, but we're very excited about the future.
We hope you'll be celebrating with us as we begin expanding our ability to help people collaborate, exchange ideas, and build relationships around the world.
Although we're busy working on future plans, it's important to know that there will be no immediate changes to either the eGroups or Yahoo! Clubs services. All of the current features, policies, and services will continue to be supported.
Users will continue to be governed by the Terms of Service they initially agreed to upon registering for either service. In other words, the eGroups Terms of Service will continue to apply to eGroups users.
Short term, we'll continue planning for the integrated service, while trying our best to anticipate any major issues that might arise. We will share news on our progress in the merger discussion group (http://www.egroups.com/group/merger), and we encourage you to participate in the dialogue by voicing your concerns.
We understand there will be a lot of questions regarding this integration and we'll try to answer them all as best we can. We've also created a Help Center (http://help.yahoo.com/help/egroups) on Yahoo! to serve as a home for commonly asked questions.
Thanks for your patience, encouragement, and feedback throughout this process.
