ST. PAUL, MN – There was no late rally this time. Corey Paul had two hits and two RBIs as Fargo-Moorhead defeated St. Paul, 6-4, before 4,414 chilled fans at Midway Stadium. Paul’s second hit of the game – a single in the seventh inning – scored the run that snapped the tie and made a winner out of rookie Nick Roberts (1-1).

Mike Meyer (1-1), who worked the first 6.2 innings, took the loss.

The Redhawks struck early, scoring solo runs in the first and second innings. A pair of walks and Steve Foley’s RBI single made it 1-0 and Fargo-Moorhead added an unearned run in the second frame.

St. Paul tied it with two in the fourth. Tonayne Brown, who had two hits, singled and eventually came home on Jeb Wiseman’s RBI single. Josh Renick followed with a ringing double to tie the game at 2.

The Redhawks grabbed the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth only to see Chas Terni, who now has a nine-game hitting streak, hit a bases loaded double in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 4.

Paul then untied it for good in the next and Fargo-Moorhead added an insurance run in the ninth. Roberts worked six innings to get the win. Lefty Mike Peschel worked three scoreless frames to earn his first save of the season.

In addition to Terni, Adam Olow had a first inning single to extend his hitting streak to nine games in a row.
