Rookie Jeremy Hinderks pitched Winnipeg to a 5-0 victory over the Saints on Wednesday night at Midway Stadium in his Goldeyes debut.

The Renville, Minn., native, who played for Concordia (Moorhead) this spring, signed with the Goldeyes earlier in the day. He allowed only two runners as far as third base in his 7 2/3 innings.

Pat Scalabrini drove in three runs and scored Winnipeg's other two. His two-run homer in the sixth inning broke a scoreless tie.

The Goldeyes gave Hinderks insurance in the eighth when they roughed up reliever Mark Wells for two runs. Scalabrini was in the middle of that rally as well with a double that scored the game's third run.

The Saints threatened in the bottom of the eighth when they chased Hinderks and loaded the bases with two outs. But Oscar Montero struck out Tonayne Brown to end the threat.
