The St. Paul Saints strung together six runs on five
hits in the eighth inning to erase a two-run deficit
and defeat the host Sioux Falls Canaries 9-5 in a
Northren Keague game Friday night.
Cory Walters earned the win in relief of starter Jake
Whitney with two scoreless innings. .
Two-run home runs by Jacob Wallis and Marc Mirizzi
gave Sioux Falls a 4-1 lead.
Adam Olow doubled home Josh Renick and scored on a
balk by Canaries reliever Brad Foss in the sixth
inning as the Saints cut into Sioux Falls' lead.
Trailing 5-3 heading into the eighth inning, the
Saints caught fire, sending 10 batters to the plate.
Tonayne Brown doubled home Olow, who had walked, and
Matt Howe followed with a run-scoring groundout to tie
the score. Chas Terni drove in the go-ahead run with a
single to right center.
