SOCIAL MATTERS
The first two social events of
the year took place at the weekend. The Golf Day took
place on Friday at Bridgedown in Barnet. The winner was
'Stumpy' Wingrove, Runner-Up - Mark Willis, Longest Drive
and Nearest to the Pin - Dave Simm, Wooden Spoon -
Tim Wakeford, Bandit - Simeon Layzell. Thanks to
everyone for making the day a success.
On Saturday we
held a Bar-B-Q and Karaoke. Pleas for good support at
events this year seemed to fall on
deaf ears as we
had a very poor turnout of just 15 playing members (I
believe we have about 90) and 20 or so
club members.
In spite of this we managed to raise £150 for the
club, just think double the numbers could have bought a
team a new kit!! There were some great performances
with the 'mike' particularly our very own Proclaimers,
Steph and Brian, Kieran and the winner Hannah Payne.
Thanks very much to all the usual suspects for
supporting us once again. Particular thanks to Nyles who
despite only returning from holiday the day before
arranged and cooked the food, booked the Karaoke and
generally organised things. Also thanks to Mickey Lewis for
supplying the food, the two Ians’ for the Karaoke, Gianni
for his donation of a meal for two as first raffle
prize, Debs & Monty for the salad, Simeon for extracting
every last penny from your wallets, and Mike for an
extended bar stint.
Apologies if I have forgotten
anyone. Look out for details of the next event and lets
have some new faces.
Cheers Willo
