With some help from Vespoli, I have been able to lower my prices quite a bit. I still plan to be in Boston by 10am the Friday before the Head of the Charles, and I will also be stopping off at the Vespoli Warehouse in New Haven, CT. I already have a few 4's as well as a couple of small boats, so space is starting to run out. If you would like to take a boat up or get a boat down from either of those locations please let me know. My prices are listed below. Pick-up prior to the race and drop off schedules for after the race will be determined as people reserve spaces.
I just wanted to let you all know that registration for the 2009 Hatter Classic in Deland, FL opens tomorrow. We are hoping for a very big turnout this year, with lots of competition. We are also including a few extra events not listed on Regatta Central. Because the race is on October 31st, there will be a costumed row, an alumni / coaches race and we will also be racing octuples and coxed quads this year as well. All are welcome, and if you don't see an event that you would like to have a boat in, just let me know and if there is anyone for you to row against will race that boat too!
Also, for those of you who haven't raced in the Hatter Classic before, there is a cap of $300 worth of fee's.
You can race more boats than $300 worth of fees but that's the most you'll have to pay.
Again, if you have any questions, my email address is listed below. Hope to see you all there!
I'm one of the coaches at Stetson University, and I just thought I'd let everyone know that I am planning to drive a trailer from Florida to Boston for the Head of the Charles, as a way to raise some money for both the team and some for myself. If you anyone is interested in getting one or more boats on the trailer just let me know. My contact info is listed below.
Also, congrats to the Columbia Rowing Club, it's always great to hear of another juniors program building some momentum.
I am happy to announce that in August we will initiate a formal Youth
Rowing Program at Columbia Rowing Club. We have had youth rowing off
and on in the past but hope to begin building a sustainable and
competitive program in Columbia. Please wish us good fortune as we
embark on this exciting venture!
I look forward to exchanging thoughts and ideas with all you and hope
we can host meets and regattas in Columbia in the future.
Best regards,

Is anyone interested in racing pairs at the Clemson Sprints? So far they only have Open 2- events, for college and above only. We might be able to convince the organizers to add an event.

Greetings Coaches, Parents, Athletes and Friends of Junior Women's Rowing -
As we labor indoors with fingers crossed for an early spring, we are beginning make preparations for this year's USRowing Development Camps and Selection Camp!
Female athletes born 1990 or later and with any experience level are encouraged to attend one of the nine identification camps we have set up across the country. There is no prerequisite to attend, they are open to all age eligible athletes (including coxswains) as well as parents and coaches.
At each one-day identification camp, the athletes will be given a presentation on the structure of the Junior Women's system including the Junior National Team, The High Performance Team, Selection Camp, Development Camp for Junior As and Junior Bs, and the Junior B Sculling Camp. The coaches will also present information on training and preparation for high level junior athletes.
After the presentation, there will be an opportunity to do an extended warm-up and a 2000m erg test followed by a session on the water with the national team coaches (weather permitting). The schedule of each identification camp may vary slightly, and will also include a question and answer session with the Junior National Team coaches and, in some locations, an athlete or two from last year's Junior Team.
The identification camps will be held as follows:
Feb 16 - Seattle, WA
Feb 17 - Marin, CA
Feb 24 - Boston, MA (as part of the CRASH-b sprints)
Mar 1 - Conshohocken, PA
Mar 2 - Washington, DC
Mar 9 - DeLand, FL
Mar 15 - Chicago, IL
Mar 16 - Pelham, NY

Coaches,
I am going to try to identify the top individuals in our district by
starting the Southeast Youth Rowing All-District Team. I want to select
athletes that are top in rowing and scholastics. I want to get them a little
more PR if that is possible.
I will take information on top 25% of finishers male and female from
regional Indoor Erg Events this January. I will then attempt to email the
programs and get information submitted to select a first team (8), second
team (8) and honorable mention (8). I am still working on coxswain
selection.
Information will be: (example)
Name:
Program:
Height:
Weight:
Erg Score: Pulled from Erg Events
GPA:
ACT:
SAT:
Competitive History
Local News contacts
Once selected I will ask for a pic from the program to post on the website
and in regional media.
If any of you have ideas on this please share them with me.

SEYRA and LRC are working together to try to develop a Joy of Sculling Conferences here in the Southeast.! We wanted to get feedback from you on if there would be interest in the developments of this type of service in our region. As well as spread the word regarding our upcoming conferences.

For more information about what the convention would be like please visit the website http://www.thejoysofsculling.com. All conference information can be found on our website and is available in PDF format for easy downloading.
If you have interests please respond to this email with a a yes, your name, program and state. This will not be binding, however, I need to get demographic sampling of who might attend for planning purposes.

Standard Entry Deadline (including all paperwork) –
October 6, 2007
In an effort to help us in the planning of the race, if you
or your team are thinking about coming please email: aharsh@....
FSRA Coaches: The LOC has reviewed the
request from a few FSRA teams to add the pairs event in this years race. Based
on last year’s entries in the event and the safety concerns it raises on
this challenging course the LOC has decided not to include the pairs event in
this year’s race. The list of events will stand as it was presented in
the packet at the annual meeting and that is listed on the website. We will
review this issue again before next years race and make the determination then.
All factors will be considered then including the number of entries at the
annual state regatta
If you have any questions or need
information, please contact Andy Harsh at aharsh@....
We look forward to seeing everyone at the race on October

I have four rowers plus myself that can help you with launch driving on Saturday. They including myself all have experience driving launches on buoyed courses at Langley. These are my guys who are racing only once in the whole regatta on Sunday in a 4x. We are glad to help on Sat. We could drive in the slots from noon to 6pm. That would give you 15 slots filled. Since I am only bringing a total of 30 rowers, that should also fill out my team's work load share. Let me know.
Also, if you get in a dire situation I can bring a launch (16 foot v hull) and engine. I would rather not, but you let me know.

Can I enter a boys lwt 8+ and a boy's 2V8+ or do i need to have a Hwt Champ 8+ before the hwt 2v8+?
( I assume i need the hwt champ8+ before the hwt 2v8+ but one of my assistant coaches disagrees.)
Two important pieces of information regarding Jr.
Women’s Rowing
1)We are
approaching the last opportunity for athletes to submit their information for
consideration for the Jr Team and the Jr Dev Team.
I
will be making decisions regarding the invitations in the next 2 weeks.
2)In
our canvassing the nation in search of athletes for the Development camp
system, we found several 1991,1992, and a few 1993
athletes to fill the Jr B Sculling camps (10 day camps teaching sculling and helping
young athletes aspire to reach their potential).BUT there is still a lot of space
available.This is an entry level
to the Development Camp system so we are still looking for high potential
athletes, but the “standards” are a bit looser because we are
looking for novices/freshmen.If
you have anyone on the team that is that potential rock star we would love to
hear about them.I would love to
see each team recommend one or two top youngsters (no older than 1991
birthdays).Things that would make
the athletes appealing to the Dev Camp Coaches…Some combination of the profile below
(note, they do not have to be the total package)
Height 5’9”
Weight athletically matching their height
Fitness some very skilled athlete converting from another
sport
Erg 8:00 ish
Determination, Competitive nature, Hard
