I understand your concern. Has the athlete won any race at states, regional or bigger? The parameters of this award go beyond my time on the committee. But they are what hey are and I hope you might aply anyway maybe just maybe that might be overlooked.

Thank you for forwarding information regarding the USRA Scholastic honor roll.

The nomination criteria states:

"Athletes must have achieved success in competitive rowing on the league or regional level, or above."

Our program is so small we rarely win anything.  Still, the kid's show up for daily practice at 5AM.  That is commendable when you have a likelihood of winning an event.

It is remarkable when you know the odds are against you and you face defeat after defeat.

Despite their record, these kids embody perseverance, determination and faith.

Shouldn't there be a way for these rowers to have the opportunity to be on the Honor Roll?

Thanks for caring so much about rowing, and always doing what you believe to be best for the rowers.

Subject: [FSRA] USRA Honor Roll

Please get the word out that November 3, 2006 is this years deadline to get applications in for the USRA Scholastic honor roll. The link is below.

Sorry, I will not be at the FSRA meeting on Saturday. If you have any questions concerns or advice for the Southeast Youth Championships Please either email me or Dan Newman as he is your contact for Florida.

There will be a Southeast Youth Mtg at the Hooch after the C&C Meeting the room to be announced later. We will bring each of you up to speed with what is going on in the region and with Youth Nationals.

The Southeast Committee is working hard to take success from last years Southeast Youth Championships and develop it the event further.
Your Southeast Youth Committee is:
(Carolina’s) Byron Walthall <JWalth1590@...>,
(Tennessee) Scott Shoup <sshoup@...>,
(Alabama & Mississippi) Jada Leo <jada@...>,
(Florida) Dan Newman <dsnewman99@...>,
(Georgia) John Pearson <coachjp@...>,
(USRA Youth Committee) Allen Eubanks<coach@...>

I need to know if there are any ideas or concerns national Youth Rowing that I need to carry back to the Youth Committee.

Lastly, I would like to thank all of the coaches that supported the Southeast Junior Development Camp this past Summer. The Camp had 55 athletes from across the Region and a few from the NE and West coast sprinkled in. The camp brought in medals in the several events. I hope that your programs benefit from the kids that return to you.
