ABA #OK011027

Sooner Pearl BMX Raceway would like to officially announce Oklahoma has a racer who will participate in the 2008 UCI BMX World Championship race in Taiyaun, China in one week. Since qualifying in DeSoto, Texas at the USA Cycling National Championship March 29th Dennison and a small group have been working to insure his participation in this Championship race. No one has worked as hard as Dennison to prepare for this race. Currently listed 2 in ABA National Age Group (19-27), Dennison has had a great year already and is poised to be a UCI BMX World Champion. We wish him the best of luck. We know he will be a great representative for our state and Oklahoma BMX.

We would like to thank the following for help to make this possible.

We want first to congratulate the folks in Ponca City for their huge
effort to get a track started in their fine city.
It has taken many years of work but the name is there and we see Sooner
State BMX (soonerstatebmx.com) as a small blip on the internet.
Matthew and Travis, it is nice to see your web presence and now we know
the name of the new track but we all want to know when will we be able
to race?
Really we look forward to the new track and wish you folks great things
in the future.
Welcome to the ABA family!

Hello everyone,
We hope you have had a great New Year so far. We will cancel our race
for today since we were unable to dry the track enough to feel safe to
race today. Our track is 90% dry currently but due to some areas not
getting much sun these places will not dry enough today before Sign-ups.
We want to wish everyone a great New Year and we hope to see everyone
next weekend to race.
We do have rain in our forecast next week but the track should be dry
enough to race since we will have 3 full days to dry.
We also want to say THANKS to all of you who came to Sooner Pearl in
2006 to race. Although we will be closing Sooner Pearl in the future due
to the highway relocation rest assured we will be racing as much as we
can before then. We have a 4 wheeler now and will be able to have our
track in much better shape for racing this year.
We (as always) look forward to seeing you here in 2007.
Thanks again from everyone here at Sooner Pearl.

ABA Announces Partnership For Content Rich BMX Website

The ABA and Tim Lillethorup Partner to Offer Race Coverage and More on New Website

Gilbert, Arizona—November 17, 2006— The ABA (American Bicycle Association) announced today that it has reached an agreement with Tim Lillethorup/Lillethorup Productions, Inc to form a new BMX (Bicycle Motocross) website that will debut in 2007.  The content-rich, interactive website will be ABABMX.tv and in 2007 will broadcast all 27 ABA National events, with 14 events live!  The new partnership will also create even more excitement with interactive features, tips from top Professional riders, new products and more.

“The ABA experimented in 2006 by offering several national events as live simulcast on our website, it provided our members with an exciting way to view the races they could not attend.  We have taken many bold steps recently to bring BMX to the forefront of action sports.  Teaming with Tim Lillethorup will provide more exposure for the sport and more fun for all BMX enthusiasts!”, says Clayton John, ABA President.

Tim Lillethorup and his bmxtvdirect group will merge with the newly formed ABABMX.tv in January 2007.  Lillethorup’s group has been providing the support and capturing the action for the ABA’s live events in 2006 as well as offering DVD’s of selected races.

“I am excited about teaming with the ABA and creating a website and race coverage on a scale that has never been seen in action sports.  Together we will offer much more for the subscribers than ever before.” stated Tim Lillethorup, President of Lillethorup Productions, Inc.  The new website ABABMX.tv will launch in January of 2007; however, live coverage will begin with the ABA Grandnationals November 23-26, 2006.

The webcast of the ABA Grandnationals will be live and offered world wide on the internet for the first time! Coverage of all the racing action will include the Pro Spectacular, National Age Group Challenge and the 29th running of the ABA Grandnationals!   The website will also offer a behind-the-scenes look at the ABA Grandnationals in tape delay that will include the Hall of Fame and Golden Crank Awards. Another first is the “ABA Helmet Cam”; it will be strapped to selected riders helmets so you ride along and race the Grands!  The weekend pass is $9.95 and a daily pass is just $4.95.  Complete details and more information is available at www.ABABMX.tv.

ABA (American Bicycle Association), formed in 1977 and headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, is “The Sanctioning Body of BMX”©.  The ABA organizes BMX racing for boys, girls and adults, nationwide and Canada.  With 60,000 active members, 274 racing facilities and a 27 event-national race schedule; ABA is the largest promoter of action sports. For additional press information about ABA, the sport of BMX, ABA events or Professional racers, call (714) 666-1999. To find races in your area or view the national event schedule, visit www.ababmx.com..

With a heavy heart I am here to say we lost a good friend today.
Sunday Sept. 24th at about 2pm the Beck family and Sooner Pearl began to
say goodbye to Bill Biles.
Most here in Oklahoma didn't know Bill as he (and Jimmy Becks) mother
(Georgia Beck) just moved to Oklahoma a short time ago. Since moving
here Bill and Georgia both have been very important volunteers for
Sooner Pearl. Bill has been our private 4-wheeler mechanic and had
donated countless hours of his time working on our old worn out
4-wheeler. After several had failed Bill made the beast come back to
life, if only for a short time. He had once again taken the beast home
to repair it for us again.
Today was the last time Bill had a chance to help us. At about 2pm in
Cresent it seems there was an accident which took Bill from our plane of
earthly existence.
Master mechanic. Master carpenter, Bill your soft spoken and strong
hands will surely be missed. It will take time to fill the hole left in
the Beck Family today.
I know I will miss talking to him and his New York accent will be sorely
missed at Sooner Pearl as well. When I left their home Saturday evening
Bill walked me to the door, as we walked through the garage I told him
how much we appreciated his working on our machine then I said take care
and have a good night. Now thinking back I sure hope he did realize just
how much we did appreciate his hard work and I wish I had said
goodbye............
If you have a minute please say a prayer for the Beck Family.
Sooner Pearl will be closed Monday and we will be closed the day of his
funeral out of respect, we will mourn the loss our our friend and
dedicated volunteer.
See you on the other side and don't bend to many nails there in heaven.

Thank you,

Consider this a weekend to spend some quality time with your other hobbies as you will not race here this weekend.
We are fortunate for the rain as we have not had much rain for months now and we surely did need the moisture.
As of 5pm today we have received over 1/2 inch of rain. Due to the time of year and the drying rate of our track we will cancel racing for Sunday.
We want to say thank you to the BMX racers, parent and Track Officials for their interest in our 400 Point Weekends.
As it stands we have 1 other weekend for this series of races.

The Sooner National is over for another year.
As it has been in previous years a very competitive weekend of races for
the Central US.
If you were not here then you missed more than competitive racing, you
missed a huge group focused on our great sport.
I would like to say to each and every one of you who came to 'our' race
here in Oklahoma a huge THANK YOU.
I say this not only as a Track Operator but as a BMX parent, BMX racer
and only one individual involved in BMX.
Not only was this weekend a very successful race and very good for
Sooner Pearl BMX but it was an opportunity for me to get to know more of
you who make up the fine sport.
I had time to talk to many people this weekend. One being Pierce Barker
of Pro-Gate. I have to say I had seen his product in action before at
another ABA National event and was impressed. Now that I have had the
time to set down and talk to Pierce 'one on one' I have seen something
I did not see before. First I saw and talked to one person who does not
race BMX but is more dedicated to the sport than many racers. Not only
an knowledgeable, dedicated and honorable person, a but a down to earth
man who is very interested and involved in BMX racing. Pierce is someone
who has taken his knowledge and built upon it to make this a better
sport. Many of you know me and many don't. Some say I have a way of
seeing things in a different light (if you will) and this weekend I saw
a bright light for BMX. Not only for ABA, NBL, UCI or any sanction but
for the riders. One thing I have always worked for since becoming
involved in BMX is rider safety. Saying that, I believe Pro-Gate is the
future of gate systems in BMX. No, Pierce didn't pay me to say any of
this. I say it for the riders and because this is one thing which is
true BMX and that is 'it is a time for a change'. I say thank you to
Pierce for his time this weekend. I think he understands better than
most! That being said see for yourself.
Once again we here in Oklahoma were fortunate to have a National race in
Guthrie. Yes I do think this is a great race. Yes there will be a 2007
Sooner National (straight from Clayton) and yes it is a very successful
race for racers, vendors and ABA. Not only that but there are great
people here and good people who recognize this is one great race to
compete in each year. This state is a sports state and it looks as if
BMX is one sport which will stay and grow here in Oklahoma for a long
time on the National level.
I want to again say THANK YOU to everyone who came to the 2006 Sooner
Nationals.
I want to invite everyone back again next year, if you don't come then
you WILL miss one of the best ABA Nationals.
Now that this years National is over (and like many other sporting
events) plans have already started for 2007.
I invite you to come next year and see what we have in store for ABA BMX
in 2007and hope you have a great 2006 race season.
Loved every minute of it!

Co-sponsor of the 2007 Sooner National

PS. I have to include our Co-sponsor track Yukon BMX. Yes they have a
great facility and it is good to be involved with their track and the
Sooner National each year.
And last but not least a thanks to ABA for giving us the chance to have
this race and for coming to Oklahoma to build some awesome tracks and
great friends
See YOU next year!!

Sooner Pearl BMX Raceway wants to be the 1st. track around to say congrates to Dennison Smith.
If you look on the ABA website today, look at the Photo of the day and you will see Dennison. Dennison has raced for about 4 years and he has improved each year. If anyone from District OK01 deserves to have his/her picture on the ABA site it would be Dennison. He is in the Top 10 of his age group nationally and has worked hard this year to get there.
So here we go.....................
WAY TO GO DENNISON
