It's quite impressive that this Football Annual has been produced each
year since it first appeared for the 1887-88 season.
During the First World War reduced size Athletic News Football Annuals
were produced for the 1915-16, 1916-17, 1917-18, and 1918-19 seasons -
these each contained 64 pages.
During the Second World War reduced size Athletic News Football Annuals
were produced for the 1940-41, 1941-42, 1942-43, 1943-44, 1944-45, and
1945-46 seasons - these contained either 32, 48, or 64 pages.
It became the Sunday Chronicle Football Annual for the 1946-47 season.
It was quite a surprise to find from 2008-09 it's now called the
Nationwide Football Annual.
