You are indeed correct.
On February 25, 1950 the attendance at Tottenham's home game against
Southampton was 70,302.
The previous season Spurs also had two home league games where the
attendance was higher than the Villa v Coventry game you cite above.
On October 16, 1948 the attendance versus QPR was 69,718 and on April 2,
1949 the attendance versus Southampton was 69,265.
