There are two 'gates' to top the Chelsea one.

Many web sites have it that the record at this level was 68,029 Aston Villa v Coventry 30.10.1937. The official crowd at League HQ is a few hundred below this .

However, I am sure Spurs had a crowd of over 70,000 for a game v Southampton (I think) in their promotion season 1949-50.
