MACSL "Policies" on Fouling, Etc.   Message List

Re: [soccer_atlanta] MACSL "Policies" on Fouling, Etc.

I wasn't there so I can't comment on the particular
incident(s) in question but I will add this: When the
game tempo picks up because more athletic players join
the game there is an increased risk of injury simply
because of the higher velocities, bigger muscles, more
mass, etc. involved. Furthermore when these players
encounter less athletic, and sometimes less agile and
predictable players, unintentional collisions and
trips become more common. I have seen this phenomenon
hundreds of time playing pick-up basketball when the
level of skill and athleticisim was very varied.

That being said this is the metro atlanta CASUAL
soccer league so the expectation of the better players
should be that less polished players will always be
part of the game and that it is up to the more skilled
players to tone it down if needs be. No matter what
the level of play no one can guarantee a lack of
injury and all players play at their own risk (which
is hopefully minimal).

There should be no slide-tackling in any of our games. The playing surface is not suitable, we have no referee to adjudicate such challenges, and so on....

No slides tackles is a good rule. They don't even allow them in the Div 3 league I play in in Cobb county, and there are refs and linesmen in those games. The...
