MACSL "Policies" on Fouling, Etc.   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #795 of 1147 |
There should be no slide-tackling in any of our games. The playing
surface is not suitable, we have no referee to adjudicate such
challenges, and so on. Players should also be careful of "lazy"
challenges, that is, the casual foot or leg inserted from the side as a
player with the ball makes her or his way through traffic. And it goes
without saying that lifting one's leg above the waist, studs showing,
in traffic constitutes dangerous play.

Having said that, in more than two years I have not seen any malicious
fouls. I have not seen shirt pulling, simulation, head-butting, time
wasting or other attempts to bring the game into disrepute. From my
experience, MACSL participants are interested in fair play and in
having a good run, not so interested in "victory" or in seeing injuries
incurred in a recreational game.

We can emphasize the no-slide-tackling credo on Saturday. I hope we'll
have a turnout despite the 30-degree drop in temperature. Bring extra
woolies.
