Soccer players,
I have posted a new map showing Toomer Elementary, our new Saturday
soccer location, within the metro area:
http://sports.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/soccer_atlanta/photos/view/d27
a?b=5&m=f&o=0. Next match is March 24, 11 a.m. (poll also posted).
It is accessible from several approaches: (1) Coming south on
Moreland Ave., turn left onto Boulevard and proceed one mile. The
road turns into Hosea Williams Dr. The field is on your left. (2)
From Decatur, proceed west on DeKalb Ave., turn left on Arizona Ave.
Take immediate left, at loft housing, onto Roberts, paralleling
CSX/Marta tracks. Road curves south. School and field are on left.
(3) From I-20 heading east (toward Augusta), take exit 61-A
(Maynard). Turn left onto Maynard. Proceed across Memorial Drive.
Road turns into Wyman. Turn right onto Hosea Williams Dr. Field is on
left.
We had a great time on Saturday. The field is in good shape, lined,
with corner flags. There is a "johnny on the spot," along with
Atlanta Falcons–themed jungle gym. It makes one feel about 8 years
old, at least psychologically.
With 14 people or so, we can use the full field (there are two fields
with youth-league goals).
Going forward, we can talk about Larry's financing plan if Toomer
fails to meet our needs.
