the implication of those former messages, i think, is that our
current official time/place of play (sunday afternoons in candler
park) is *too* serious, *too* competitive.
i think the original, very casual, core of our group has dropped
off....either been distracted with other things or been turned off by
occasional flashes of overly seriousness in the play at candler park.
still, the competitiveness there isn't overwhelming....and it sounds
like, from you background, you would blend in easily. i still show
up there once in a while. but it just isn't the best soccer. too
much showboating and individual play.
weekday nights in decatur at ebster park (which is kind of behind the
police department and west of the high school) are usually a couple
of friendly, half-field, pick-up games. these players are at a very
high level. but they welcome new-comers, emphasize team-play, and
are nice.
not too much running if you are looking to get back in shape.
