For those interested in working-week soccer, I stumbled on a game
behind Renfroe Middle School, off College Avenue in Decatur, on Labor
Day. About 15 to 20 people -- and it was all men when I played --
gather on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at around 6:30 p.m. They
have good skills, but they're a bit more focused on the result than we
are.
The age range is between 12 and 58. The latter was a former semi-pro
player from Israel and South Africa. He carved up our defense like a
slab of Boar's Head.
Presumably the games end with the return to standard time. Anyway, the
people are nice enough and it's a good run.
