asim, i think i was momentarily speechless because your suggestion is
such a simple, intelligent improvement to the current state of
affairs. we really ought to play in the late afternoon....at least
until summer fully wanes. i guess the only reason i haven't
organized the games for these later times is because when we used to
do it.....a couple years ago we'd often start games at 4pm or
later.....we'd end up competing with league soccer and softball for
field space. my schedule is so inconsistent from week to week, it is
difficult for me to scout the fields to see how they are being used.

i thought perhaps if we played earlier, we could beat the heat....at
least the early afternoon build-up. but, this doesn't really
work....not unless we get up really much earlier than my work
schedule or most people's idea of leisure will allow.

next time.

as to this time....i hope a itsy bitsy hurricane doesn't submerge our
game. it is almost certainly going to rain both thursday and
friday. we'll just have to play it by ear. i don't mind getting
wet, but if it is too soggy, given our generally low-skill level and
the prohibition against cleats, we just end up uselessly flailing out
there.

if anyone has doubts as to whether we are playing on saturday, i'll
post an e-mail that day about 8:30am saying, "nay," if nay is in
order.

otherwise, see you there. we've got four commitments on-list and
four off-list.
