dinner, you can run or walk it off at the third annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey
Trot for charity in Long Beach on Thurs., Nov. 24. More than 2,000 entrants
are expected to make a preemptive strike against the holiday bulge as they
begin and end their 5K, 10K, or "Kids 1/2-mile Wingding" near the Belmont
Olympic Pool, 1 Bennett Ave. in Belmont Shore. The flat out-and-back course
is
along the scenic beach bike path, toward the Queen Mary.

Those who register for the 5K or 10K by Nov. 17 are eligible for "earlybird"
discounts: $20 til Nov. 17; $25 on race week; or $30 race day. With even
greater savings for full-time students, low-income persons, government
employees, and for any group of 5 or more, the entry fee is only $15, when
mailed-in
or hand-delivered by Nov. 17. Earlybird entry for the "Kids 1/2-mile
Wingding," ages 12 and younger, is $10 before Nov. 17, or just $15 during race
week.

START TIMES
The 5K/10K events will start at approx. 9 a.m. To ease congestion on the
beach bike path, there may be a 10-minute delay between the 5K and 10K races.
The 1/2-Mile Kids Wingding will begin at 8:30 a.m. All participants will
receive an official event t-shirt.

100 FREE HOLIDAY PIES
In addition to finish line drinks and snacks for all runners and walkers,
organizers plan to distribute more than 100 holiday pies to random finishers as
they cross the finish line.
