RE: hay

Dear all,

There is a gentleman that I bought hay from.  He has 8 tons left and it is alfalfa/grass mix. Pretty heavy on the alfalfa side (probably 90/10 ). I cut it w/ grass.  The hay is out of Oregon. It is 280.00 a ton and came out to 16 bales and 15 bales when I bought it.  My horses really like it and there are no weeds. I am very particular about weeds and quality.  His name is Jeb? Beck and he delivered and stacked. His contact numbers are: 775-677-1448 or 775-560-2706. You could always take a look and reject if it does not suit you.  He is delivering primarily in the Spanish Spring and North Valley side. I hope this helps someone getting a bit low on hay.

Sincerely,

Tara

Dear Chapter Chairs,

I would like to add more to the email blast that you received from CDS regarding the Regional Adult Amateur Competitions.  Please help us get the word out by advertising this program, as often as possible, in your Chapter newsletters, show premiums and on your web sites to encourage participation.

The NORTHERN  RAAC show will be held JUNE 6, 7, and 8, 2008 in SANTA ROSA and is hosted by the SONOMA Chapter.  The CENTRAL RAAC is JUNE 7 and 8 in PASO ROBLES and is hosted by the SAN LUIS OBISPO Chapter.

This show is a stepping stone for all of our Adult Amateur riders.  With the two divisions offered, Elite and Novice, these competitions will provide a special show that could be used as a "practice" run for those Elite riders who will be competing at the Annual Championship Show at LAEC in October 2008.  For the novice rider it will provide an alternative championship show type atmosphere for those not yet ready move up to the championship level of competition. Below are some answers to frequently asked questions.

Riders are able to pay the $25 sign up fee anytime before the qualifying cut off date of May 11th.  Scores earned before registering do count for the competition.  Scores earned back to September 2007 are retro-active and do count toward the 2008 qualifying.

Winners at each level in each division will receive a CDS cooler.  Ribbons will be presented to tenth place at Training & 1st Levels and to sixth place at 2nd, 3rd and 4th levels.  There is a Roses Award for the high scoring over 50 rider.

Each rider will need to supply show management with a form listing their qualifying scores.  These forms can be requested from the Central Office and will be published soon in Dressage Letters.  We ask that you help with the widest possible distribution of these forms.  Riders can send entry fees in for the RAAC show prior to earning their last qualifying score.   Refunds of applicable entry fees will be made if they do not receive that last qualifying score.

We need Chapters to consider applying for the 2009 RAAC as a host Chapter.  The goal is to rotate this show from one area to the other within each region. CDS encourages Chapters to partner together to host future competitions.  Applications and guidelines are available from the Central Office.

For those hesitant to participate in the 2008 RAAC might consider working at the show.  It could provide the information necessary as to whether they should consider the RAAC as one of their riding goals for 2009.

This is a win/win program for Chapters and riders.  Please do not hesitate to contact Wendy Mattes at wendy@..., Peggy Klump at pklump@..., or me at 4farmer@...

Thanks so much,

Laurie Farmer-Espinoza
