SKI BUDZ in DOOR COUNTY

 

Join SKIBUDZ for a biking and camping trip to beautiful Door County, Wisconsin.  The trip will begin on Friday, August 17th with an approximately 4.5 hour drive to the northern end of Door Co.  For those of you who can, I would like to have an early afternoon departure from the city, traffic being the main concern.  The campsite is a private campground on the northern end of the Door Co. peninsula, in the town of Ellison Bay, Wis.  I've been there a couple of times and it is a great site, very well maintained and close to all the attractions of Door Co.  The camp site does have a few small cabins for rent.  For those of you not interested in tent camping, I highly recommend that you contact the campground soon and make reservations.  The web site is:  www.wagontrailcampground.com. 

 

Friday, we check in to the camp site and set up camp. On Friday night, the group will meet for a casual dinner at a local Inn.  Maybe even have some Door Co. cherry pie!! It's great.  For those of you who have not been to Door Co., it is described as the "Cape Cod" of the mid-west.  There are about a dozen small villages on the peninsula that feature old Inns, many, many art galleries and great restaurants. 

 

The Saturday bike ride is through the beautiful rolling Door Co. country side.  Then, back at the camp site, shower, have some wine and/or cocktails and head to dinner. Back to the camp site, hit the sack for the night.   On Sunday morning, those who are willing, do an early morning short ride, then pack up and head back to Chicago.
