Hello fello in-liners,
I am wondering if anyone is interested in getting together after this Tuesday's
(8/15) skate.
Since this is a 'Zoo' skate, I am proposing that we meet at Hooligans afterward
say around 8:30 (PM).
Let me know if you can make it. This will be my last RISC related event for a
while,
as I will be moving next week.
- Don :)
P.S. I won't be attending the skate as I have 'ever-so' slightly sprained my
knee and need to stay to
stay off my skates for a few weeks. :(
The deadline to register for SkateBoston AND still receive the discounted
rate and the complimentary t-shirt or cami (designed by STRUBS!) is this
Sunday!!
If you plan on attending, might as well register in time to get the discount
and freebies!
We have a fun weekend planned! End your summer with a bash.

For those who plan to skate Syracuse tomorrow morning and would like
to carpool from Rochester, let's gather at the Route 31F Park & Ride
adjacent to St John Fisher College 8am. http://tinyURL.com/kbx6x
The forecast calls for hot humid weather, so remember to brings
plenty of water, sunscreen, and dry clothes. Of course, don't forget
your skates, gear and helmet. We'll likely get lunch after skating,
but feel free to bring a picnic. The shore area truly is beautiful.
For more information, see http://skateRiSC.com.
If you can't make it Sunday morning at Syracuse, Kirk and I will be
skating from GVP at 6:00 Sunday evening. Speed to accomodate all.
Afterwards, I plan to watch Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" at 8:00
pm in the Highland Park bowl (South ave. at Robinson dr) It's free.
Bring your lawn chair.

Don't forget the evening skate this Friday, 8:00 at Washington square
(near St. Mary's Church and Geva).
Don't forget to wear white reflective clothing and flashing lights if
you have them. We'll have about an hour of daylight, then find the
well lit areas to skate in.
My experience is that downtown empties out after work, so traffic
should not be an issue.

Unlike the rainy weather of the past week, the forecast tomorrow
looks great for a ride! In our usual monthly final Fridays, we gather
our friends and our human-powered wheels and celebrate our shared
roads: party on wheels! We meet at the clock tower and depart River
Campus 5:30p and head for the Liberty Pole, then depart there 6pm.
Join the ride! http://ROCwiki.org/Critical_Mass
Greetings All, if you have yet to see the slate of events this
weekend, see http://skateRiSC.com.
The weather tomorrow looks okay for the Flag Relay, but if showers
threaten to the east, we can skate west. If you were on the fence, or
have yet to skate this season, tomorrow's 7mph flag pace makes for
good conversation and meeting other trail user groups and members.
Just find a suitable leg and hop along. A few of us plan to gather
near the Waterways Center in Genesee Valley Park at 10:30a and skate
8 miles to meet the flag, and then return to synchronized arrival of
the other flag. Bikes and runners, of course, are welcome!
Then Sunday 6pm just as Canal Days wraps in Fairport, we mosey
through the crowds and skate east about 3 miles until the pavement
ends, and then return for a skate tailgate potluck. We'll go easy and
around Fairport too, good for bringing someone who's wanted to skate
with us! Then grillmaster Jim plans to serve hots and burgers, and
finger food like strawberries or chips, and i plan on a tasty side
dish and maybe dessert. The RPO plays at 3pm, so i might even get out
there early.

…apologies for the broken link. In my attempt to prevent Yahoogroup

greetings Skaters!
If the next few nights don't snow, winter might finally be gone and a
summer of skating finally here. In addition to twice weekly skates,
this season brings day trips, overnight trips, fundraisers maybe, and
more. To set a calendar and direction, let's meet to see which days
work and what each of us would be willing to commit.
http://evite.com/pages/invite/viewInvite.jsp?event=UTOYCPRBGWVIASIGQHJP
At the link above, please mark your availability for each of the time
slots. The date can then help set a location, and i can post a
meeting agenda here by Friday morning. You can also indicate which
day in addition to Sunday works better for our weekly skates this
season. Meanwhile, if you have an item you would like included on the
agenda, please reply.

There is an opportunity to hold a 5K inline race at the Rochester
Airport on June 24. This would take place on one of the runways!
Sure to be flat and smooth.
I'd like to determine how much interest there would be in holding
this race. It'd be no fun with only a couple people. Please reply
back to me if you think you might be interested in competing.

this month, but I wanted to let the industry leaders know
about the
schedule for the 2006 Philadelphia Freedom Skate. Because of a
hotel scheduling conflict, we've had to move the event one week
earlier than the usual weekend. This year's event will be
held on
June 16-18. Unfortunately it conflicts with Fathers' Day but we
didn't have any other good options.
Also – it's very likely that this will be the final Freedom
Skate.
While our attendance is still respectable, it has declined in
recent
years. That, combined with several of the key organizers
"moving
on" to other life activities, makes it unlikely that we could
continue to produce an event that continued the high standards of
the past, and we wanted to end our ten years of activity on a
"high
note". This will also open up the opportunities in 2007 for
the New
York, Boston and DC events by removing a competing event.
Hopefully we'll see many of you in Philadelphia that weekend.

Sad news, this is the 10th and final, here is a piece of the site:
The biggest skate event of the year is back for the tenth and final
time! Roll through the streets of Philadelphia escorted by the
Philadelphia Police Department and the National Skate Patrol. We're
planning a full weekend schedule of skates, parties, food, prizes, and
much more!
Pack your bags now.... as this will (sadly) be the last one (even I am
going to see if I can pull it off).
