On a more serious note.... I have thought about this for a long time, and
have started this note many times in the past, but never actually hit
"send" for many different reasons.

The facts is, that I have not skated a regular club skate in 2 whole
seasons because my job changed, and the time of my job contradicts with the
times of the skates. I have not wanted to get in the way of club events or
scheduling, so I have let many others steer the direction of events with
out even questioning the events since I did not think I had a reason to
interact on that level (since I could not attend).

My absence as a leader (or organizer), from what I hear, may have been
hurting the club/group, and that was never my intention. I never expected
my job to permanently become 2nd shift, but it has now, and that is that.

Also, the icing on the cake (for those of you that do not know), Mary is
pregnant, and due in 3 weeks, so that is going to take up a lot of my free
time, and cut into my ability to just run out to skate when the urge (or
weather) hits.

So... the bottom line here, is I want to transition over my
responsibilities as RISC leader to the next level. I have a whole bunch of
paperwork from Barb (the original club founder.... that is probably useless
now); the web-site management, up-keep, upgrades (which it is in need of)
and all related tasks; event scheduling; answering email; Yahoo Groups
(officially 3 of them, 2 are not used much any more) and skating. The easy
side of this, is that I am running my own hosting business, and I will
continue to host the RISC web site for free. I will also assist as needed
and not just dump this on someone(s).

If you are interested in any or all of these responsibilities and tasks,
please step forward and volunteer by replying to this email, and if needed
we can get a conversation going on the mailing list to start working on
details.... or, we can all met up at Tully's on Jefferson by 390 at 2PM on
Jan 2, 2005 and start migration to the new leader(s). There is no reason
that one person with a little bit of dedication and time can not run
things, but you have to be able to spend that time (as I know everyone's
lives are busy).... but if multiple people are interested, then we can move
back to a more formal organizational structure with separate rolls and
responsibilities.

Should there be no one ready and able to take over. I will gladly continue
to manage the web site and its content. But, I will have to insist that
people start to use the website to a larger extent, and not emailing me
directly. By submitting the news stories and events via the web site
directly (more details on this if needed), there is a lot less work and
also the ability to have others to assist me.

Happy Holidays to everyone, and I hope 2005 brings you all that you hope for,
Greg

PS - if you do not feel comfortable replying to the list, please fee free
to email me directly gmm(at)tikcuf(dot)com
PSS - I also do not see why we all can't get together for lunch on the 2nd,
even if the subject of "who runs what" does not need to be covered. Please
add yourself to the eVite: http://www.evite.com/evite.com@tikcuf.com/risc
