Re: [RISC] new skate route proposal

Being the absentee skater this summer (again), I was wondering if the
meeting points can be scheduled, but the routes 100% undefined until
everyone is there and then based on skills?

I am on several other club's mailing lists, and the norm seems to be a
time, place and skill set.... and then routes are free reign and undefined
until the skate is actually moving on down the road.

There are no rules stating that a GVP skate must be on any of the 3
paths.... why not skate out to Scottsville Road, out behind the airport and
then into Gates?

A group with a lead skater, regular stops and a "sweep" person is doable on
any roads in Monroe County.... not to mention, by law, we can skate any
place we want as long as we follow the laws.

Would there be any interest in say.... 11pm Friday nights or Saturday
nights for a late night skate with blinkies and flashlights?

Greg

That's odd. I went down Park Ave and clearly the side streets have the excessive "chip-seal", but Park itself is smooth. There is "run off" onto Park Ave...

Since this seems to be an open discussion I guess I'll put in my 2 cents too. To me, different skating experiences have definitely improved my skill level....

To be fair to Joel, in Philly he skated every skate we did, including both evenings' advanced skates, totaling for the weekend nominally 51 miles. Go, Joel! ...

Yeah...That Joel guy might not be quite as bad a skater as he sometimes seems from his slow pace and poor form / technique! ;-) Seriously though, the skate...
