Athens-to-Atlanta Announces Online Registration at Active.Com
Register Before July 15 for Best Price on 38-, 52- and 87-mile Events
ATLANTA -- Online registration is now up for the 22nd Annual Athens-
to-Atlanta Roadskate, the oldest and most famous road skate in
America, held on Sept. 28, 2003. The event is produced by the Georgia
Inline Road Skating Association and hosted by the Atlanta Peachtree
Road Rollers.
Register before July 15 to lock in last year's price of $50 for any
of the 38-, 52-, or 87-mile events. To offset increased costs of
police protection for this sprawling event, registration will rise to
$70 for the 38-mile event, $80 for 52 miles, and $85 for the full 87
miles as of July 16. A $10 late registration fee will apply in the
month of September, and an additional fee of $10 will apply for
registering in person at the Skate Expo the day before the race.
The granddaddy of ultra-endurance skating, A2A is also accessible to
recreational and fitness skaters through the 38-mile option, which
ends in Dacula, Ga., and the 52.4-mile double-marathon distance,
which will have its own starting line in Dacula and finish in
Piedmont Park.
Besides the beauty and challenge of the event itself, A2A promises
the most memorable weekend of skating you'll have all year. Take over
the streets of Downtown Atlanta on the police-escorted Friday Night
Skate. Catch up with old friends and make new ones at the Skate Expo
Saturday in Athens. Relish the moments in Piedmont Park after the
skate, and cheer everyone's accomplishments at the awards ceremony
Sunday night. This year's celebration also offers Skate Daze in
Piedmont Park, celebrating all forms of skating from artistic to
aggressive with demos and fun for skaters and non-skaters alike.
There will also be a commemorative program, where space is available
for personal and commercial messages.
