A new season, a new website, and some of our same favorite skate
places: in case you have yet to join either of RISC's Yahoo Groups or
see our calendar, this Sunday morning returns us to regular events for
the season, when the Onondaga Lake Parkway also closes to motorized
traffic for 3 hours. Let's gather early, just beyond the southern
entrance to Mid-Town Athletic Club to carpool or caravan to Onondaga
Lake, to skate the Parkway and idyllic Park Trail:

With four lanes and no cars, you can skate fast, 'til your legs burn,
as some of us did last year with Joe Butler, a five-wheeler and our
Syracuse host this Sunday, or along miles of newly paved Trail, glide
serenely among lakeside willows. Our archives contain many posts about
Onondaga. Messages 190, 136 and 134 might be especially useful:

This spate of rainy weather ends Saturday, so don't forget sunscreen
and whatever essentials you think you'll need, like money,
phones/radios, bagels, water, change of clothes, sandals, tools, helmet
and pads, and skates! Either bring lunch, or we can visit Heid's, where
we meet in Liverpool, or Sebastians or Spinnaker, both in the Park.
The following Sunday, of Memorial Day weekend, starts our regular
Sunday evenings with a Learn-to-Skate, for those new to skating:
http://evite.com/jlam%40rpa%2Enet/learn2sk8/. I plan to post a more
detailed announcement next week.
Please see the links above, and join our list. We would love to have
you skate with us this season!
