For those of you who may not have been to any skates this past week,
the new news on the grapevine is the Niagara Falls Marathon from
Buffalo NY to Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario.
OK, here is the scoop
Marathon site: http://www.niagarafallsmarathon.com/
Date: Sunday October 27th, 2002
Registration: US$55 -
https://secure.marathonguide.com/register/casinoniagaramarathon
I am a little worried about the weather.... the average high that
time of year is a balmy 55 and a low of 35 and Buffalo averages a
trace of snow in October
(http://www.wunderground.com/NORMS/DisplayNORMS.asp?
AirportCode=KBUF&SafeCityName=Niagara_Falls&StateCode=NY&Units=none&IA
TA=IAG), so the extreme could be in either direction. The plus side
is that the winds have shifted to the SW and that means a tail wind
for most of the race :-)
If anyone is interested in skating the marathon and you have not
mentioned it to me, please email me off list.
There are plans to have "advanced" skated from now until the marathon
that will not be on the schedule, but will be mailed out once things
like weather and general availability are determined, so probably a
day or two notice, so I would like to get anyone that feels they can
complete the marathon and wants to "train" together on a list for
notifications of practices.
We are also planning another "learn to skate" night, if you are
interested in attending in September, please let me know if you are
available on any Tuesdays or Thursdays, and we will plan another one
soon.
Skate safe, and see you on the paths,
Greg
