Warning this post contains non skating activities...
On our skate Sunday, we stopped in GVP and gazed over a serene creek
(pronounced crick if you're from Clarendon)and I realized I haven't
been canoeing in ages. Anyone interested in taking a trip? Two
options:
Tame the mighty Genesee: Rent canoes from the city at the Boat house
in GVP. Cost approximately $10 per person. We can go up the canal, or
River. Both nice, but slightly urban excursions. We'd be going with
the current on way, and against the other. This could happen on a
saturday or any non skating evening.
Float down the peacefull Oak Orchard: Rent canoes from Oak Orchard
Canoe in Waterport (about an hour West on 104 in Orleans county) and
have them shuttle us to Medina for a 3 hour tour (unless a storm blows
up and the minnow flounders) down Oak orchard creek and Lake Alice.
Cost $15 per person. It's a longer drive, but Oak orchard Creek is
largely undeveloped and a beautiful trip. On the creek we're
moving with the current, Lake alice is flat water (all work). Best to
do this on a Saturday.
Let me know if there is interest,
