For me, it's because it's many times easier to subscribe
to a list compared with actually scheduling time and going somewhere.
I probably should unsubscribe, but I enjoy getting the announcements -
perhaps as a reminder of the years when I was active with RISC.

That, and the last time I skated was with Greg and Mike on
390 north and I lost a shaft and haven't replaced it. :-)
