Tororrow night we are having the Fowl Fun Run meeting at Alfy's Pizza in
Burlington @ 6:30pm.
Right now the following people have confirmed that will help out:
Pete Haase
Ron and Kim Betz, Registration (Running)
Steve Duncan, Course Marking & Registration (Running)
Kevin Ryan planning (Will not be able to attend)
Lana Bargabos Planning, Pies, Registration.
Jim Carson, Food Preperation Running?
Terry Sentinella, Planning, Finish line, Registration.
Dean Taylor (Course Setup, delivering stuff)
Jim Kopkowski (In Indiana)
Pam Kopkowski (Fill in where ever needed)

I am not sure about Volunteers. We are trying to get ahold of Teresa Mcguire
hopefully the MV Cross Country Team will help out with the course, if she can't
find enough help we Keefer said he would try to recruit the Burlington Edison
Team to help.
We moved the 2 mile to run on the same course as the 10k, so we will need less
people to help out on the course. So we no longer have two seperate courses,
just an out and back in each distance.

See you Tuesday Night.
Terry

Hello all,

The 5th running at Lord Hill will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2008.
This is a low key affair with no fees, t-shirts, or awards. The course
is a 10.5 to 11 mile loop on trail and gravel/rocky road through hilly
terrain. There is about 1800 feet of gain per loop. Aid is minimal,
but I will have water, some snacks, and chicken soup. More information
is available here:

http://mysite.verizon.net/resv06n3/lordhillruns/
<http://mysite.verizon.net/resv06n3/lordhillruns/>

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks,

Tim Lofton

Members, I am setting up a meeting on Tuesday 10/30/07, 6:30pm, Alfys,

one. We will need people to help out at the finish line, food, and maybe on the
course. Please let me know if you can help out.

Membership,

This Thursday I am helping out coordinating volunteers helping with
the NWL XC Championships at Anacortes. This year's race will
feature some of the best teams in the state. There are at least 4
top ranked teams in the cross country poll along with others. 3
defending State Champions teams will be present. This is the most
competitive league meet in the State of Washington and you can be
part of making it happen.

Thursday at 3:00 will be the start of the first race. With races
every half hour. 3:30 4:00 and 4:30. I will be having a meeting at
2:30 to go over details. If you can be there let me know. If you
can't make it to the first race but a later race, I am sure I can put
you to work. The final race is one of the hardest because these boys
come into the finish chute fast and furious! We gather all out
resources to keep them moving.

It could be an inclement day so you would earn your due this year.
There will be close to 400 runners and most likely their mom's and
dad's. It will be a day to remember, and you can be part of making
it happen. I know that in the end I feel pretty darn good knowing
that I helped make it happen. Your efforts will be appreciated by
many people. No task is too small and no one too big. Timers
wouldn't be worth a tinker's dam if the chute folks didn't move them
along to the tag pullers who keep the tags in order to make sure we
get the right tags with the right times and the right order to send
over to the folks in the scorers both to figure out who the winners
are. EVERYONE is vital to make it work correctly!

Hope to see you this Thursday in Anacortes. Let me know if you can
make it.

Thanks
Dean

That you could run in the Skagit County Cross Country Championships
tomorrow at Centennial Elementary School in Mt Vernon?

Yes......YOU CAN!

Young and old.........Dom and Joe! even older.........BILL!

The Boys JV starts at 3:45 and is followed by Girls Varsity then Boys
Varsity and then...........the Skagit County Cross Country
Championship Community Race which also serves as the annual ALUMNI
CHAMPIONSHIPS! Can Brad Adams find the right 4 Seahawk alumni to
outpace Keefer Whan's Tigers although we know that Mt Vernon has
dominated this race of aging delinquents for the past few years!

So let me remind you one more time. EVERYONE is invited to run in
the community race after the high schools are finished. Just put
your name on a number, pin it to your shirt, and follow Clay Wing
once the gun goes off. Better yet, follow Keefer he will be closer
back to the pack than Clay.

See you on the dirt tomorrow!

This coming Friday at 3:45 will be the first of 4 cross country races
held on the fields of Centennial Elementary School and sawdust trails
of Skagit Valley Community College. It is the annual Skagit County
Cross Country Championships. Skagit Runners is a proud sponsor of
this event in that we purchase their medals and provide the finish line.

This year, as in all the years, you can join in the fun after the
Boy's Varisty Race by jumping in a running in the community race.
Support your local school and run under their banner regardless of
whether you attended or not. It is a chance to experience the pure
joy of cross country running!

IF not, then come anyway and watch the excitement.

And per tradition, an all community 5K race will be held before the

So come out and support your school and cheer on your favorite runner
AND then run your in a race yourself

OR

See you at the races......

The only thing that I could add is that with the new technical shirts I would
order alot more smalls as most women and smaller men take the smaller size than
the usual mediums. And of course the smalls always run out. I'd even think
about getting a few extra smalls for those that usually were a small. I haven't
come across a technical shirt (or jacket) that aren't bigger than the usual
sizes yet. Just my bit of input.

I really appreciate the complement, but really it is all because of the club. I
spend a lot of time helping out with a little of this and a little of that
today. I tried to help out wherever I was needed. The whole club really came
together to make this work. I am glad we had all the volunteers we did. I think
everyone played an important role. just remember we can never have too many
people helping out. If we have extras we can use them to relieve others. Jim
Kopkowski has a few prizes left from the race. We will be giving them away at
our post race dinner at Alfys in a week or two. If you noticed anything that we
can improve on please write it down now, better yet send it to me and I will put
together a list. I know Dean has a few things he would like to change on the
course. Because of the size this marathon has become, and the MS bike ride we
need to look at ways to make the course as safe as possible. We hired an
additional Sherriff this year, and had more people controlling traffic. This
worked great! We almost ran out of water and cups (we bought 8,000 cups), but
Dean found someway to keep this from happening. It's amazing how much food was
eaten! I saw people opening their shirts and loading food in their shirts, and
we still had food for Dolphin and Preedy.
By the way this was the largest Skagit Flats Marathon to date. I don't have the
numbers yet, but I think we had about 620 registrations, We had 525 last year
Once again Great Job today, I really appreciate the support!

Best decision I ever made as a Skagit Runner was to turn the head
honcho position over to Terry. All you have to do is look around to
see the differences in the club these days. Spiffy running jackets.
Increase in volunteers. People pulling together to make it work.
   Yadda yadda yadda

And to top it off, Terry has turned little ol' Skagit Flats Marathon
into a regional, if not, a statewide classic. No more self serve
water stops or look both ways before you cross. Everything about
this race is first class. It is way cool to be a part of this thing
even if it can be a nightmare at times.

So no more babbling, just a great big tip of the hat to President
   Sentinella. Job well done.

   Dean

PS: And to everyone (especially his wonderful wife, Delores, and
tireless friends, The Kopkowskis) who helped out, you can betcha you
made him look good today!!! THANKS!!!

Teams can also be formed tomorrow if it so happens. The idea is
running fellowship along with running.

Plus I read where the Dalai Lama said that we needed more picnics in

me.....actually I will run while the wings are cooking). I will get
there early and find a prime location to set up the canopy and unload
the gas grill!

I just returned from Costco and have started baking the brownies.

Menu will include burgers, wings, potato salad, chips, watermelon,
brownies, and various types of drinks: gatorade, juice drinks, and
pop. If you want to bring something to add to the mix then that
would be good. I am thinking about getting some sweet corn tonight
and cooking it up.

Below you will find the teams. I am available to jog a lap if anyone
doesn't show. Bill and Dom's team can be call Young 'n Old
Runners.......oh yeah, you are supposed to have a name for your team.

   Hey Terry,

I picked up my Skagit Runner's Jacket today and it's a real beauty!
Thanks for pulling this together! The jackets are well made, good
looking, and they really show off the club logo.

Anyone who hasn't ordered a jacket, please consider doing so! You'll be
   glad you did.

I think Dean is still looking for people to run the Padden relay. By the way
your jackets are at FootwoRx in Burlington.

Terry, if there is a slow team that desperately needs one more person I'll run
the relay Sunday. Steve said last weekend when we saw him that we needed more
Skagit runners. Don't put me on Chips team. Only a slower team or womens team.
And I'm perfectly happy to be a cheering section. I'm planning on running the
Dog days of summer on Sunday and hoping that TenKay will run the whole loop with
me. So just let me know if I need to come prepared to run or watch.

If you ordered a jacket on the 1st order they should be available tomorrow
afternoon at FootwoRx in Mount Vernon. Bill Arnett will be picking them up from
tomorrow morning. Please make a check out for $40 payable to Skagit Runners.
Thanks I hope everyone enjoys the jackets.

I will be there with Sherrie, we have a 3 person team possible 4 for the
relay. My husband will also be attending to be our cheerleader.
