Skagit Flats meeting on Monday AND HELP NEEDED!   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #43 of 341 |

We are in need of help in the following areas. I am sure more will come up
as the race nears. If anyone in the group, their spouse, Grandmother, or a third
cousin twice removed wants to help, I am sure we can find a spot to put you.
Please let me know and we will put you on the schedule.
We are having a meeting to discuss the volunteer duties @ Alfys in
Burlington on Monday @ 6:30 pm. Sorry if this conflicts with any schedules this
is the only day I have available before 9/9.
It would be really nice to have prior RD's like Keefer, Dean, Wendy, and
Keri to pick your brains, and gain from your past experience.
I am attaching an Excel Spreadsheet, hopefully you can understand my
formatting. All the jobs I can think of are listed. Any or all support is
welcome.
The club has worked hard to make this Marathon a success. Thanks for
everyone's continued support.
Steve I don't have Jim Carsons phone #, if you know his phone # could you
have him call me?
I am not sure how to get a hold of Cathy Cushing. If you see her or know how
to get a hold of her have her give me a call?

We need help in the following areas:

Expo Help ( 6 people ? )

People to pick up items, Food, Ice, Bananas, Muffins, bread, etc.
People to pick participants form Cotton Tree and take them back.
People to haul items from Steves.
People to haul items from the Expo to the start.

Course Setup ( 2 or 3 people )
Traffic Control (2 or 3 people )
2 water stops ( 6 to 8 people )
Food Preparation ( 3 or 4 people )
Course Teardown ( 3 or 4 people )

As for the Carbboom station I think the Laconner aide station would be the
best spot ( mile 6.5 & 18.75 ). The only concern of mine is the location. It is
best to have someone 1 block ahead of the water station giving out Carbboom.
That would be before the intersection of Allen and T-Loop. I worry about the
runners popping the Carbboom while running across the road and not paying
attention to the traffic. Can we set it up to where so people are finished
taking the gel prior to crossing the road?

Talking Rain called me yesterday. They said all of our stuff from them is
at Walton Beverage except for the signs. They are going to try to find a way to
get the signs brought up here by a driver, or hand delivered. I am not sure if
the Gatorade is here yet or not, Walton Beverage said it would be here in plenty
of time for the marathon.

Subject: meeting on Monday?

Terry,

People were asking me at the race this morning (actually just Jim C, Dr. Rob,
and Cathy Cushing) whether we were having a meeting this Monday. I said that I
thought that it was going to be 6:30pm at Alfy's, but I wasn't sure. Now that I
look, it seems like a time and place is not set. Can you do 6:30pm on Monday at
Alfy's in Burlington?

Also, Cathy Cushing has the wheel right now, but I told her that we would need
it marathon day, so she should be bringing it then. The map on
http://www.usatf.org/events/courses/search/searchResults.asp?courseID=&distance=\
&distanceUnits=&distanceComparison=&city=&state=&courseName=Skagit+Flats&courseT\
ype=R&drop=&dropComparison=&separation=&separationComparison=&certificationYear=\
&lastName=&queryType=basic&format=view&submit=Search

tells where the marker should be (9 foot something from a planter).

The Carb-boom stop would be at 9 and 16.38 if you placed it at the Lindquist
station. If we are only doing one station, the other possibility would be 6.5
and 18.75 miles (La Conner XC). Let me know what you want and I will update the
web site.

Talked to Brian at the race and he thinks he can get me the stuff the Tuesday
before the race as he needs to make a delivery to Little Mountain grocery on
that day anyways (right down the street from me). He doesn't think all of our
stuff is in yet. I'm hoping it's not a ton of stuff and we can get it all in a
single truck load down to the race.

Steve
