Let's hear it dude! We have a couple of weeks to get this to the schools, so
a little time to schedule another meeting. I talked to Steve last night. His
main concern was to make the questions on the "Review Matrix" match the
questions on the applications. I think we struggled with this last year.
During the review, last year, we just skipped some of the questions because
they didn't pertain to the application, or the applicants didn't answer the
questions the way we wanted them answered (possible wording issues).
As for the points system the 1,2,3, point scale worked well (highest score
gets a 1, second highest score gets a 2, etc.). Members will pick applicants
1-13 (or however many applications we receive). We will add all the scores
for each applicant and the 6 lowest scores will be our scholarship picks.
Last year we had the applications at the schools around 4/1.
My goal is to have the scholarships distributed by 3/15, so the kids have at
least 1 1/2 months to respond. I really think these need to be at the
schools by 2/1, next year maybe!
Sue, I forgot to add applications may be dropped off at FootwoRx, 701 S.1st
street, Mount Vernon, no later than 5/1/07. We set the mail in application
deadline on 4/28/07, Saturday prior to the review. I set up a review meeting
at Alfy's, 5/4/07, 6:30pm.
My plan is to go to FootwoRx and the P.O. Box, prior to the meeting , pick
up the applications, get copies made, then head for Alfy's.
I would like to see all the personal information on the first page, so it
can be removed when we make copies for the committee to review. The
questions and answers can be on the last two pages.
Thanks for all of your input last night. I think the meeting went great. We
had a lot of positive input.
