I get a lot of emails from people asking me the squad numbers of 70s
teams, I know the concept wasn't entirely new, but there weren't many
teams that had them as a rule in the 60s and 70s.

I heard that some people play the game Beckham + Van Nistelrooy
equals which player based on squad numbers. (I 'm pleased to say I
don't know the answer to that one.) There wouldn't be much scope for
that when numbers ran out at 11 !
