The club and supporters did him proud at the weekend too. He's the
first of the class of 73 to die. It was expected, but that doesn't
make it any easier. Apart from Dave Watson, who I believe is looking
after a sick wife, the rest of the Cup-winning team were at the SSOL
on Saturday. Vic Halom indeed took 2 days to drive overland from
Bulgaria, but he's the sort who would have crawled over broken glass
to be there.

There's been some talk too about how the present regime at the club
is far more respectful of our history than others before them. But
you'd expect that from Niall Quinn. Some of us are surprised he
didn't lay on a taxi for Vic Halom!

This is what JIm montgomery had to say:

I know everyone's done their tributes by now, but I just wanted to say that I thought very sad that Ian Porterfield had died... even if I did hate him in 1973!...

After 6 out of 6 it sounds very realistic now: "Target 105 points!" :) And I've read somewhere on LUFC message board: "Jermaine and Tresor 60+ Goals Next...

At Leeds I sometimes wonder if old players make it hard for current players by having clearly in everyway been more successful. That said things have been so...
