Hi Bob
Must admit I have given this site a miss for a while, seemed like it
was deserted sometimes, but glad to see some life in it now.
So much going on in todays football world, a lot of it not to do
with football at all, maybe it has always been that way.
Good to see a couple of articles in the Sunday Times of late, from a
couple of 'oldies' Rodney Marsh and Charlie George. I don't have the
passion for the game like I use to have when the likes of Law, Best,
Charlton, Hurst, Peters, Moore, Thompson, St John, Hately, oh I
could go on, the names are not of preference, just what I can
remember off the top of my head.
You see I could have mentioned, Greaves, Gilzean, Ball, I'll stop
there or else I will be writing all night. Even accounting for the
amazing comeback by Liverpool just recently, there doesn't seem to
be character in the game, and that includes the likes of Rooney.
Just a mentione of a guy, who was pulled my team of the day, Hull
City, to bits whenever they played, and a player whom I thought
deserved better recognition of his tallents, take a bow, Terry
Conroy of Stoke, yes the team that had George Eastam playing at the
age of about 39 I think, oh and not forgetting one, Stanley Mathews.
