Re: [Sixties and Seventies Soccer] David Webb

To be honest Bob, I didn't really have much of a clue who Jon Sammels
was! I was born in 1970 and my parents first started taking me up to
Highfield Road around 1975 ... one of my earliest memories is a 1-0
win over Leicester surprisingly enough.
Now if you were talking about Brian Alderson! ... ( Who of course
started at Cov and went to Leicester ) Back in the 70's my late
father co-managed a local kids sunday league side and for one of the
training sessions Brian Alderson ( A Leicester player then ) came
along and took the session, which was held in the sports hall of the
Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University) ... It was a great
thrill for all of us to have a professional player taking the session
and most of had our pictures taken with him in a passport photo
machine ... still got mine somewhere :-)
As for the photos I've posted, my late grandad gave us a stack of
them in the early 80's. His workplace were chucking them out :-( They
are mainly Coventry City from the 1960's & 70's along with a few
others, mainly David Webb in his Chelsea days for some reason!
I've posted the Coventry ones & other Coventry stuff in my own Yahoo
group...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_seven_steps/
which you may be interested in despite your allegiance to the
dastardly
Foxes!!!
