Re: [Sixties and Seventies Soccer] Re Photo
First off I agree about the goalkeepers of this era, I always
remember the England team had 4 named goalkeepers, and people still
wondered why certain other goalies were not capped - like John
Jackson of Palace. Bonetti, Corrigan, West and Stepney all missed
out by being around at one of England's golden eras for goalies.
Wilson had to pretend to be Scottish!
Now we struggle to name a third, and the current number two (James)
is prone to terrible mistakes. I'm a big fan of Robbo, though,
having seen him a lot at Leeds.
Anyway, the other reason I write is that you are all way off mark
about the photo. I gave you Peter Springett as soon as he was named
(well done ,Bill)- and I thought, 'oh no here we go again'. But no-
one's been close since.
I was beginning to think I'd made this one too hard after making the
last one too easy, but no, I haven't - people just aren't
speculating enough. Let's have some ideas it is actually quite
obvious if you just put your minds to it!
