Whilst this group celebrates nostalgia, coming across as having a
chip on one's shoulder doesn't serve any purpose.

And while I can work blue as much as the next guy, I'd prefer we
didn't do it within this group.

context. Nights out were a western movie under Alf's strict
supervision. He told players that if they broke the rules they were
out of the squad. They were not cosseted , of course, but I suggest
you read any of the numerous books about the World Cup 1966 victory;
they all describe the extensive preparations the England team
undertook. We folks alive in 1966 did not come from the dark ages;
we worked hard for what we achieved, and the England team are no
exception.. By the way, isn;'t it a bit obvious that today;s players
have not achieved what the 1966 crop did? We all koow there has been
no second World Cup victory.
