It looks like the weather should be decent (sunny and mid 50's is what I
am hearing) for a ride tomorrow so lets ride...
Meet: Red Circle Inn Parking Lot, Nashotah
Directions: From Milwaukee, I-94 west to Hwy 16 west to Hwy C (about 10
miles, next exit after Hwy 83) south to Red Circle Inn (south west
corner of the stop sign intersection).
Time: Meet 6:00, ride 6:15
We are planning to do the Golden Lake Route which is nice and flat so no
major torture on our legs on this 1st ride.
For those not familiar:
* We ride 20 - 30 miles (shorter options are available). Maps are
provided.
* Our pace ranges from average of 15 to 20 mph.
* We do not focus on staying together as one group so it is a
matter of grouping with a person or several at your pace.
* We also go out for food and drink after the rides.
* Please have your bike in good repair as we have limited
resources and time for bike work.
Hope to see a few cyclist tomorrow night.

Hi I am wondering if I should invest in a set of aerobars. I commute
around the city quite often and I plan on doing some long rides this
summer. I woukd like to know if they make the ride more or less
comfortable. And how much they will actually get used. Thank you in
advance B.K.

This is an Eisner Museum exhibit.
Jim Reilly is planning a visit as follows:
Join me for the November 30th Ale House / Eisner Museum tour event I'm
hosting. Meet at the Ale House between 5:15PM and 6:00 PM (note the new
meeting times)for drinks. Take a short walk down Water Street to the
Eisner Museum. Cost for the self guided tour will be $4.50 or less,
depending on how many people have discount coupons from the Gold C book.
I have one to share. We'll have nearly 2 hours to browse the exhibits,
before returning to the Ale House for dinner (Entertainment Book coupon
A268)
I'm hoping to Join Jim for the tour... Thanks for this information Jim!

Inquiring bikers want to (or may not want) to know... It is in the
current copy of Men's Journal. It discusses Floyd's situation in pretty
good detail, the techniques and what teams and riders are willing to do
to get away with doping - no holds barred if you have the cash and the
smarts, and, the history - it has been going on for a long time!
Enjoy

We are skipping tonight's ride. Feel free to go on your own if desired.
For next week, Steve and Joyce have made an invite to ride the Bug Line
out of Menomonee Falls and then social and video at there house
afterwards. We will meet at Village Bowl in Menomonee Falls at 5:45pm.
This is a Rain or Shine Warm or Cold plan so that we can at a minimum
get together at Steve and Joyce's home for our social and the VIDEO
production.
Hwy 74 (i.e. Main St.) west of Hwy. 41/45 1-2 miles on the North side of
the street.
Will follow Steve and Joyce to there home after the ride.
The Bug Line is Traffic Bond etc. (i.e. packed stone) so a hybrid or
mountain bike is best. A road bike will work but not best choice.

We start at the Power Plant bar then have a drink and then the leader
tells us which next bar to go to.. Free prizes and alot of fun!!! Best
of all its free!!!
Join me and Jerry for alot of fun!!! Most of the people didn't have
costumes... but it was still a riot!!!

A few of us regulars will not be able to make tonight's Glacial Drumlin
Ride from Frame Park tonight. If you are going to ride tonight have a
good one.
P.S. A bunch of us had a lot of fun at the Fat Tire Ride this weekend
in Hayward/Cable. The Saturday rain held off and there was no rain
earlier in the week which gave us dry riding conditions. Ya Hoo. No
injuries, no major equipment failure, so every one finished the race.
In the end just a lot of tired, tired bodies.
Also, we are planning to ride the Glacial Drumlin for the remainder of
the season with a planned start of 6pm.

A few of us, and I mean a few as in three of us, had a nice pre-fall
ride last night. Yes it is still summer until September 22nd.
September 23rd is the first day of Fall. We will skip this next Monday
due to Labor Day. Perhaps a Mountain Bike ride at Southern Kettle this
weekend. Maybe Sunday morning? Give me a call if interested.
For our Monday rides we need to move to the Glacial Drumlin for the
remainder of the season. For those not knowing, we ride here until mid
to late October. 20+ mph in the Dark is fun...
So, for Monday September 11th meet at Frame Park in Waukesha
Meet time 6:15pm
Ride time 6:30pm
To get to Frame Park:
Hwy 164 into Waukesha, turn left on Moreland (Hwy 18 - lights), cross
the Fox River and take the next right into the Park.
For those not familiar we ride from Frame Park to the Glacial Drumlin
trail
and continue on the Glacial Drumlin to the west to Dousman (or however
far you choose to ride) and then turn back and return to Frame Park.
Refueling (with the goal of lots of Popcorn) at a local establishment to
be determined after the ride.

Clear skies and our 6:15 start gave us enough light to have a nice ride
ahead of the early evening dark. So, we decided to continue with our
Holy Hill workout for another week. Plan for another 6:15 start. Our
rider Ross, from New Zealand has said fair well in the attached E-mail
text below. I think we need to plan a few bike rides in his home
area... Who's In? Ross, if your still on the distribution just let us
know where to show up :-) :-). On another note, a few of us are
planning to Mountain Bike Sunday Morning at Southern Kettle. The plan
is to meet at the parking lot just north of La Grange (Hwy H) at 7:30am
Next Week:
Meet: Uncle Jonnies Bar in Lake Five. From Milwaukee take Hwy 41/45
North to Hwy Q (north end of Menomonee Falls) west (about 7 miles) to
Bar on the North side of Hwy Q about 0.25 miles west of Hwy Q and Hwy
164 intersections.
Time: Meet 6:00, Ride 6:15
Shortcut options are provided for those that do not want to ride the
entire route.
Ross Says
Probably wont make any more of the Holy Hill rides as I have the Oshkosh
Tri this weekend and next week head to Colorado for some mountain
cycling and then off to Europe.
Many thanks for your help in hooking up for the few rides and thanks to
Mike, Jeff and yourself for making me feel very welcome on the rides.
Safe riding.

Moderate temperature made for a good ride. We worked our way up to the

Hot (mid 90's), but not to hot for a bike ride. However, we did have a
smaller group and we did end up at a reduced pace. We also enjoyed a
nice climb to the Church. Most likely two more weeks on our Holy Hill
route due to diminishing light. This puts us on the same mid August
ending as last year.

Although we had a small group on Monday we had a nice a ride.
Participants were Mike, Ross, Paul and Myself. Missing were some of
our standard riders.
Being a smaller group we decided to take some liberties with the route
and added some hills. We went to visit the church and Mike showed us
a nice service road behind the gift shop that is quite the challenge.
The plan is next week same time same place.
Oh ya I am gunna be pushing for more hills and a visit to the church
See ya there
I will not be able to make it to tomorrow's ride. Jeff is planning to
be there. If the weather is questionable you can give Jeff a call at

is taking me out of town.
I think we can plan on riding Holy Hill on the 31st .

We had a wonderfully hot ride last night. I guess it was in the mid 90's when
we rolled out a little after 6:30pm. It seemed to feel just about as warm when
we rolled back in a little after 8pm. With all the heat, we had no pass-outs,
lots of sweat, and nice limber muscles. We continue to capture videos and
photos of our rides. Steve has the video equipment which gets strapped to a
seat-post-mount bike rack. I had the honors of the gear on my bike last night.
So, Steve finally had the opportunity to be in the scene! There will likely be
an opportunity to view our production at a ski club meeting in the coming year -
stay tuned. Next week we will continue our tour of Holy Hill.
Meet: Uncle Jonnies Bar in Lake Five. From Milwaukee take Hwy 41/45 North to
Hwy Q (north end of Menomonee Falls) west (about 7 miles) to Bar on the North
side of Hwy Q about 0.25 miles west of Hwy Q and Hwy
164 intersections.
Time: Meet 6:15, Ride 6:30
Shortcut options are provided for those that do not want to ride the entire
route.
A big day in the Tour de France today as described below from velo news web site
http://www.velonews.com/tour2006/news/articles/10131.0.html
Course: There's no more spectacular finish than the 21-turn, 14km climb to
L'Alpe d'Huez. This year it comes at the end of an already demanding 187km stage
that climbs the hors-cat Col d'Izoard (14km at 7 percent) at 86km and Cat. 2 Col
du Lautaret (12km at 4.4 percent) at 134km.
Then comes more than 30km of mainly descending roads, which will likely see the
race come back together before the assault on the Alpe (14km at almost 8
percent).
Our most challenging Holy Hill climbs include 7-8 percent portions but are only
about ¼ mile - ½ mile long. 14km = 8.7mile! Feel the pain...

Now with the better bike and no rubbing brakes, I can no longer hang with

Smokin Ron,
I checked my garage and found a 5 gallon pail of heat resistant grease that
will probably work pretty good on your brakes. It is also waterproof so your
sweat won't thin it out. It might also pay to check the thickness of the
wheel rim. It must be getting pretty thin from the brake wear.

If it feels like your riding with your brake on, maybe you are...
S#@%%^& happens! Oh well, sometimes one must learn from experience. It
was still a good ride. The cool, dry air is a nice treat. We will be
riding our Holy Hill route again next Monday - no breaks, no brakes, no
pun. Oh well, I have to try. Join our post ride oxygen-depravation
conversation and you may understand or give-up trying to understand.
Time: Meet 6:15, Ride 6:30
Shortcut options are provided for those that do not want to ride the
entire route.
Finally, SuperWeek begun this past Friday and continues to 7/23. This
Saturday the races are in Waukesha and a few of us are planning to watch
the Pros race in the early evening. Check out this web site for details
