I had surgery on Thurs. to put a pin in my hand so hopefully now the recovery process will go smoothly. I'll be after that doctor to at least let me ride the mountain bike at some point (on smooth trails) if he isn't ready to give me the go-ahead for the road bike. Natalie will be going up on the trainer and I'll be working on some hill programs on my Spinerval DVDs so I don't get too far behind.
Yes, see there was a reason that I didn't bother with the little ring in front - you never know when you won't be able to use it. Perhaps if I stress to the doc that I only use that hand for stability, and it never does any really work anyhow, he'll let me try riding sooner.
I'll have to stop by Uncle Johnny's one of these weeks to hear all about what I'm missing.
Later,
Sue

Yes, thank you S&J for hosting the after ride social hour.
We also learned that one of our riding friends, Sue, tangled with RR
tracks and lost. We all wish you a speedy recovery. Keep us posted on
how you're doing. BTW, expert opinion has it that you don't really
need to use your front derailleur, so riding and shifting with one
hand shouldn't be a problem. :)
