While it's oft been said that Mr. Deep Pockets, the one and only, and
very same-Mr. Ralph Englestad-who, through his considerable monetary
largess and idealogical philanthropic wherewithals, did conceive and
build that ostentatious monument to himself-the Palace on the Prairie-
is a humble and genuine man, I must beg to say that isn't entirely the
case at all, and for that he should be truly humbled, and no doubt
will be, when he, if he does, finally makes it to that great big ol'
hockey arena in the sky. If you consider how,(I shall from now on
spell with a capital "H" whenever I further refer to 'Him' because
surely 'He' is a god, or, 'He', at least, must consider 'Himself' to
be), He usurped UND's control over deciding the Sioux nickname/logo
controversy and let His true colors shine through on that debate, then
I believe no further proof is required to adequately engender such
recriminations as I've charged Mr. Deep Pockets to be beholden with.
While UND, through various chancellorship, was in the thro's of making
an honest and unbiased attempt at adjudicating the whole matter, along
come's Himself, full of self-indignation, and acrimoniously decries
the whole process, selfishly threatening that if the debate does not
cease and desist, that He, adlibitum, will,(Waah!,Waah!), take His
money and run. That UND chose to respond obsequiously, and went along
with His heavy handed demand, they can hardly be blamed for, because
the 'Palace" was about 3/4th.s built already, and as I said before, I
do believe UND's administration tried to solve the matter in an open
and honest fashion by iniating an enlightened forum seemingly in
accordance and in
accepted tradition with an institution of highter learning, and it was
a decision rightfully theirs to make, before He adulterated the whole
process. So where does all this leave us? It draws us back to the
beginning of this treatsie, back to where I stated how I don't feel
that Mr. Deep Pockets is very much of a genuinely humble man, afterall.
My next arguement for that very admonishment would be the fact that
He showed up to a Sioux hockey game last year sporting a retinue of
Las Vegas showgirls, who were, I hear tell, pretty scantily clad.
And what was the point of all that parading around the arena that all
these bimbo's did. Where they there to show all of us little people
how big and important Ralph is? How Hugh Hefner has got nothing on
good old Mr. Deep Pockets? Was Mrs. Ralph there too? And what did
she think of it all, or is she so used to it by now? Was anyone all
that very impressed? Did you let your imagination's run wild after
seeing those tramps, and did you all think, "Man, ol' Ralph's gonna
get lucky tonight"? But I digress, He already showed enough of what
He thinks He is by His demagogic action on the name issue. What
really and truly fries my arse though, is this: namely, that if it
weren't for Mr. Deep Pockets, my favorite Fighting Sioux team probably
would have won their fourth NCAA national title in 5 years! Yes,
Ralph, I blame YOU, and all those else who made the Lady Sioux
Basketball team play their arch enemy, the Bison,at your gaudy Palace,
for there was no way the Sioux should have lost to them, other than
having to play it there, at 'The Ralph', and they proved it during the
playoffs, where the Lady Sioux kicked a--! And I do believe that the
way they were playing before having to go down to Colorado, that they
would have totally rolled through the rest of the next tournement, but
only if they would have been hosting that next tounement, which they
probably would have, if they hadn't lost that one on the ice. By the
way, the dump isn't even a good place to watch basketball anyway, and
espically not Lady Sioux Basketball, so please, whoever decides this
stuff, don't let my team play there ever again. Everyone likes it
better at Hyslop where it's so much more intimate, where the fans are
closer and they can get a feel for the game and it's excitement a
whole lot better. And don't ever dare to try and parade around any of
them Las Vegas bimbo's at Hyslop either, because the Lady's who are
already there RULE anyway! Goodbye.
