does anyone know why we are still under a transfer embargo having paid hmrc off? I emailed the football league last Friday and received the reply below. now I know it's a bit academic as the transfer window is a few weeks off and I assume we could only pick up the odd freebie or convert current or recent loans but I'm still curious.

Dear Rick

Thank you for your email.

Southend United are currently operating under a transfer embargo but this is not something that the League is able to comment further on.

Regards

we still have cash flow problems and presumably some bills have not been paid - I would guess it's money owed to another club for previous dealings ... From:...
