Wednesday are set to sell out their near-2000 allocation for the trip to
Roots Hall on Saturday to face newly-promoted Southend United for the first
time in 23 years.
The Owls ticket office had just over 200 tickets remaining this afternoon
after Wednesday fans had snapped up the initial 1,200 batch last week.
Southend sent a further 750 batch to Hillsborough for sale because of
demand.
It will be the first time at Roots Hall for many of the Owls faithful - with
the last meeting between the sides at the famous old ground coming 23 years
ago in the FA Cup where the Owls picked up a 0-0 draw in January 1983.
The last time the clubs clashed came at Hillsborough 13 years ago, again in
the FA Cup, when the Owls ran out 2-0 winners over the Shrimpers thanks to
two Paul Warhurst goals in 1993.
The Essex club currently lie just one position and one point ahead of the
Owls after five games in the Championship. Their biggest scalp so fr is
undoubtedly the victory over Sunderland at home last month - and they'll be
keen to continue their fine home form against the Owls this weekend.
