Let me describe the footwork again. Your left leg
steps back as you pivot on your right. So you end up in
the same stance as if you stepped forward with right,
just depends on the distance you have to close. I have
practiced this against a punch as well, the push was just
the initial scenario. As far as a blade kick vs
roundhouse, I don't see why not. But the roundhouse probably
flows better with the hip rotation I'm putting into the
hammer strikes.
