Castro St. Fair
Date: Sunday, October 1, 2000
Time: All Day
We are planning on having an information booth at this year's
Castro St. Fair. We will most likely be located in a booth on
Market St. between Castro & Noe. When exact information becomes
available, we will let everyone know.
Hello, all!
On Sunday morning I chatted with Andre LaCroix, who runs the amateur
hockey league at the Oakland Ice Center. He says he wants a sixth
team for the Silver division, and he's looking for an organizer. I
volunteered to do that if he couldn't find anyone else to do it.
(Which probably means the job is mine. ; )
The Silver B division is for people who've had at least two years of
playing experience. I've already got a goalie (me) but I need
everyone else. Even if we don't have enough people to form a whole
team, we could be on a team together. If you aren't already on
Chris's Bronze team and you want to play in the Silver division this
fall, then please email me right away!

Castro St. Fair. We will most likely be located in a booth on

Greetings everyone.
I wanted to give you an update as to the status of the team. I know there has
not been much going on in the way of e-mails through the mailing list, but your
fearless team coordinator has been working very hard behind the scenes to make
sure that the Yeti will be playing in the Fall/Winter season. (Thank you to all
those who have assisted me with this... I really appreciate the help!)
I may have already contacted you by phone, and this E-mail is probably showing
up twice in your mailbox if you subscribed to the SF Yeti E-mailing list, but I
wanted to make sure I this update got to everyone.
Advanced Roster Update
For a while, it seemed somewhat promising that there would actually be two full
rosters, (both an advanced team and a beginning team), for our first season, but
unfortunately, for the time being, there are not going to be enough people to
form the advanced team's roster. That's not to say that advanced players have to
wait until the summer season to be involved with the Yeti. We can always use
(and would appreciate) the help of those players, in the form of support
(showing up for games, spreading the word about the Yeti, etc.), possibly
assisting with coaching members of the team, and/or help with planning future
events the Yeti might be involved in.
Hopefully over the course of the Fall/Winter season, enough interest will be
generated for the advanced team's roster, that those players can start competing
in the Summer season.
Beginning Level Roster Update
For those who wish to join the Bronze (beginning level) team, it is very
important to contact Chris Magnani (Team Coordinator) at (415) 596-3811 ASAP, in
order to get a place on the official roster.
We'll start playing on October 8, 2000, continuing into May 2001. Our schedule
has not been fully determined yet, but will posted as soon as we recieve it.
What we do know is that games will be played Sunday through Thursday at the best
ice times in the area for adult hockey. Over the course of the season, there
will be 20 games, plus playoffs. The finals of each division will be a best of
three series.
Financial obligations are as follows:
Each Player on the team MUST pay a deposit in the amount of $300.00 by Tuesday,
October 10th, 2000.
Each player MUST ALSO pay the balance of $180.00 by Friday, December 1st, 2000.
All payments are to be made to Andre Lacroix. He can be contacted at (510)
268-9000 ext. 108
Yeti Web Site
In other news, the Yeti now have a new web site. Located on the WWW at
http://www.sfyeti.com/ , the new web site features an improved user interface &
layout, making needed information easier to find. (If you haven't been to the
web site lately, you haven't been to the web site at all.... )
If you have any other questions, suggestions, or comments, please contact
Chris at (415) 596-3811.
Thanks again for your interest.

SF Yeti Practice will not be held today
Date: Friday, July 14, 2000
Time: 10:15PM - 12:00AM PDT (GMT-07:00)
There will be no Pick-Up/Stick time practice held today, due to
scheduled skills classes and camps happening at Oakland Ice
Center this week. We will meet again as usual next week.

LOL... Hey Rob, If you have all your gear, & have a hell of a shot,
that's enough for me... Skating can easily be worked on.
There won't be practice on Friday the 14th, since Oakland Ice
Center canceled all pick-up & stick time sessions from the 10th
through the 14th to conduct their summer skills classes. (We might
have a practice Sunday morning, but that's not confirmed yet. More
details to follow soon.)
I'm looking forward to seeing you on the ice!

Hey, Rob!
No offense is taken. Playing in goal is a very different sort of game
from everybody else's. As a goalie myself, I have a sneaky plan for
my defensemen: during one practice each season, every defenseman gets
to spend the time in net, in goalie gear. You don't have to make any
spectacular saves ... or any saves at all ... just stand in the
stance and maybe move a bit, to get a feel for what the position is
about. Then when you're a defenseman again, you'll know what you need
to do. :-)
So... Can you skate backwards? If you can, we'll make you a
defenseman. If not, then you're a forward, and I'll coach you. So
come by pickup or stick time next week, eh?

Just a quick note... (In case anyone needs to locate me)
Tonight at practice, I will not be wearing my blue Leafs
jersey (It's out for repairs). Instead, I'll be the goalie wearing
either a white or teal San Jose Sharks Hockey Goalie Camp Jersey.
There's also a good chance I'll be playing on the pick-up side
tonight (check out both rinks just in case...)
Greetings All,
I wanted to give everyone an update of the SF Yeti's Rosters,
and about the upcoming season.
First off, I wanted to let you all know that the beginning
team's roster is growing (slowly, but surely). Currently on the
beginning roster, we have:
Chris Magnani, Goaltender
John Lewis, Defense
Emily, Forward
I need to be contacted by those people who wish to join the
beginning team, who currently have their equipment, and will come to
practice with the team. (It doesn't matter if you don't feel your
good enough, as long as you have the equipment and the desire to play
for this team, that's what practice is for).
There was also much (unexpected, but welcome)interest with
players wishing to join the advanced team. Currently on the advanced
roster, we have:
Michael Roeder, Goaltender
Jerry Mucha, Goaltender
I need to be contacted by those who wish to join the advanced
team, who have their equipment, and have the skills necessary to be on
a Silver Division team.
The people above are the people that I've met and talked with
personally, and who I know are going to be playing on the team(s). I
know that there are are several other people with whom I've talked
with (during Yeti practices & at the Festival), and are going to
practice during Friday nights (or Sunday mornings), and play with the
Yeti with the Fall/Winter season.
I need to start fleshing out the roster with players who will
be on the team, because interest in sponsorship of the team has been
shown, but only if the roster grows and get fills up. There are also
other opportunities for the team to be featured nationally (and
worldwide) in print and on the web.
Regarding the details for the Fall/Winter season: The roster
for both teams is going to have a maximum of 15 players (plus the
goalie). There will be 20 games, plus playoffs, from October to
March. League fees are going to be $475. for the season.
I'm currently working on getting the Team Jerseys, to
increase our visibility on the ice during practice and when we start
playing. I'll keep everyone updated on this matter.
Again, it's important for me to hear from you and see you out
on the ice practicing with the team, which will help to reduce the
league fees (& possibly other expenses), among other reasons.
Everyone take care, & I'll see you on the ice!
-Chris Magnani, Team Coordinator
Hey Chris,
I'm iffy on tonight. I'll have to see how late my date goes
tonight and how exhausted I am!
Also, next week I"ll be in Arizona for the weekend visiting
my best friend out there so I'll miss that practice. Friday
nights are hard to make!
If you want to come and see me play, my team has a game at
6:00 PM in Belmont on Sunday. Our other upcoming games are
Tues 7/18 at 10:30 in Oakland; Sun 7/23 at 4:15 in Fremont;
Sat 8/5 at 5:45 in Belmont; Tues 8/15 at 10:30 in Oakland;
and Sat 8/19 at 10:15 in Belmont.

Re: Play it Again Sports,
There are many locations, although not all carry hockey
equipment. Check out
http://www.playitagainsports.com/locations/index.html
to find stores nearest you and call ahead to see if they
have stuff. I know the ones in SF and Milbrae carry some
hockey stuff, and are run by a husband and wife team that
are very helpful salespeople.

Hello, hockey players!
If you need to know what equipment you need to play hockey, check out
http://www.infernosoft.com/community/hockey/player/index.html . It's
got a list of everything you need, with example pictures and sizing
information. If you have any additional questions, please ask. :-)
In the meantime, check out Play It Again Sports near you for used
equipment. These stores are all over the place; look in the White
Pages for one near you.
In San Francisco, the Yerba Buena Ice Center has a pro shop; in
Oakland, check out the Oakland ICe Center; in San Jose, check out the
San Jose Ice Center's pro shop.
In San Mateo, East-West Hockey on El Camino Real has a good
selection. In San Jose, try Power Play Hockey a few blocks south of
the Shark Tank, the Hockey Workout on 4th near US 101, and the pro
shop at Eastridge Mall's ice skating rink. In Fremont, there's the
pro shop at the Iceoplex. I'll have maps soon. :-)
