Subject: [sfyeti] San Francisco Yeti Orientation Meeting

Greetings all!
I've been thinking that now would be the right time for everyone
to get together for a meeting, since there are now enough people
interested (& on the mailing list), and also because I need some
input
from everyone on a few different subjects. So for that reason, I'm
going to hold an orientation meeting on Thursday, April 20th at 7pm.
The address is 5285 Diamond Heights Blvd. (in Diamond Heights, across
from the Safeway). I'll post a map at http://www.ChrisMagnani.com/
sfyeti/orientmap.html .
I know it's still a long ways off, but it's already time to start
thinking about a few things. The first thing is, do you want to
compete
in the Gay Games in Sydney, in November of 2002? (Remember, this is
their summer, so it'll be really good weather!)
The reason I'm bringing this up now is that It came to my
attention a few days ago that Team San Francisco is having a meeting
on
the 27th for all the different sports reps (that would be me, in our
case) to give input on the design of the new Team SF uniform, These
uniforms will be worn during the opening ceremonies of the Gay Games
in
Sydney by all the members of Team San Francisco (different sports
teams
in San Francisco with membership in Team San Francisco). Since the
Gay
Games actually originated here in San Francisco, Team San Francisco
always leads all the other athletes out onto the field. If you're
interested in giving your own input, bring sketches, fabric samples,
and/or ideas, if you're so inclined.
I also wanted to go over the basics of getting started in hockey.
You know, questions like "Where do I get hockey equipment?", "What
kind
of equipment do I need to get?", "Where can I take skills
classes?"...
These questions & more will be answered at this orientation meeting.
(If you have any other questions that you want answered, please send
me
those questions in an email, & I'll have an answer to those at the
meeting.)
If you have a friend or two who might be interested in joining the
team, please bring them along, along with your significant other(s).
Please let me know how many people will be coming so I can plan
accordingly.
I'm going to get a couple of pizza's & some sodas... If you want
anything else, please feel free to bring it...
In other Yeti news, the San Francisco Yeti Web site is up &
running (http://www.ChrisMagnani.com/sfyeti/ ), and now listed in
major
(& not so major) search engines & directories. We're also now in
print
(The SF Bay Times in the sports section of the resource guide) I'm
also
going to be talking to other groups such as the queer alliance at
City
College San Francisco, and the Regular Guys...
So, let me know ASAP if you can attend this orientation meeting &
how many people you are bringing. See you all on Thursday!
