Upcoming calendar upgrade: Yahoo! Groups calendars are being upgraded to a much improved version. You may not have access to the calendar (for up to 24 hours) when this group is upgraded. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
Description
SFRR is a loosely organized group dedicated to the simple joys of riding on asphalt, with no officers, dues, meetings or affiliations. A few volunteers organize rides, design the kit, maintain the web site and calendar, produce route profiles, etc. We welcome new and visiting riders and recommend they review the summaries of A, B and C rides to find their best fit.
Release of liability: By the act of participating in an SFRR ride, each individual personally agrees that he/she accepts that cycling is inherently hazardous and agrees to “assumption of all risks by participant.”
Ride guidelines and policy: See “SF Road Riders Safety Policy” in the Files section.
Membership is free, just sign up with Yahoo for access to the calendar, policy, route profiles, riding tips and more. In addition to the regular weekend rides, any member can post a ride.
Sunday 'C' rides are moderate road bike rides in the 25- 45-mile range Our average speeds are in the 12 to 14 mph range. Mountain bikes and hybrids are not advised.
‘B’ Rides: Saturday and Sunday B rides range from 45 to 60 miles, with a mix of mountainous and less mountainous routes. Speeds average 15-18 mph; Saturday rides are usually faster. ‘B’ rides often split into faster and slower groups, but ‘B’s do regroup, stop for mechanicals and do their best to account for all riders.
'A' group rides: Distances can range from 50 to 80+ miles for Saturday and Sunday rides, an approximate distance will be given for each ride posting. Average speeds range from 17 to 19 mph. These rides are for strong cyclists wishing to improve both group and individual riding skills as well as overall physical fitness. Expect pace lines, some sprinting (“attacks”) and intervals. Infrequent stops for water and regrouping. Members of group are willing on occasion to lend assistance for “pulls” to help others rejoin main group.
