Hi everyone:
The January edition of the Davis Bike Club winter long distance training series
will take place Saturday, Jan. 6. It meets at 8 a.m. at the Mace park-n-ride
lot, at the corner of Mace Blvd. and I-80, next to Ikeda's. If anyone's
interested, I've posted the route to bikely.com. I had been using routeslip.com,
but bikely has just introduced an upgraded cue sheet, and I like it better. See
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/DBC-Jan-6-training-ride if you're
interested. To see the cue sheet, just click on the link labeled "cue sheet" on
the left side of the screen. There's also an elevation chart, but it looks a
little wacky to me.
The route is just over 100 miles and goes over Cantelow and then down to
Fairfield where it picks up the Foxy's Fall Century route through Wooden Valley
and back to Davis via Moskowite, Cardiac and Winters. For folks who live in
town, note that I've routed the last part of the ride back through the campus
and downtown Davis, so if you plan on riding your bike to the start, you won't
have to do extra miles to get back home.
The format of the ride is sort of a brevet without cards, controls or time
limits. You can download the cue sheet, show up at the start and either ride
with the group or on your own. Rain doesn't cancel the ride, but if there's a
big winter storm, I will likely opt to do a shorter ride.
